It looks like you haven’t been to any of the other Wegmans stores in the areas so your statement is just weird. |

I think the place is weird, half trying to look like Whole Foods, then you get Costco in the other half. Too big and kind of gloomy.

I went to the new wegmans and thought it was much nicer than Giant or Safeway and the parking was a plus for an urban grocery store. The comparison here should be the other grocery stores in DC obviously it will not have the same surface parking field, size etc.. but it is also not an hour away. Don't really get the 6 pages of hate on what i thought was a really nice store

| I lived in Ithaca and everyone loved Wegman's, but I think that's because the alternatives were like Aldi and Walmart. A bunch of people in Maryland seem to swear by Wegmans but I think that's also because their alternatives are Safeway and Giant which are both garbage. Out in NoVA we have Harris Teeter which imo is better than all of those and it's just a basic grocery store. Not sure why it's hard to just have a clean, well-stocked store in the DC area. |
No. It isn’t huge compared to better Wegmans. It is like a cave in there. |

Finally went today for the first time. Friends have raved about the store, including a DC friend who often drives way out to a VA Wegman's as a trip that includes lunch there. So I was looking forward to my first visit to a Wegman's anywhere.
The experience was unpleasant from the start. So many parking spaces marked "compact" in an area where many people drive big vehicles. The layout of the store was odd to me with only one half (staples) having aisles only. I had figured that the crowds would have died down by now - maybe this is normal there, but so many people in a hurry, others blocking aisles, near-collisions from some rushing around. Prices were higher but I had anticipated that. My kid was so excited about getting sushi, and I had expected a wider selection given the hype, but it was ordinary items and not many. Yes, there's a huge cheese section (friends have raved about this and they know I love cheese), but I did not see either of the two special cheeses I was hoping to find. And the woman who validated parking at the self-checkout was in a pissy mood! The only positive was that they offer fresh pickled ginger at the sushi counter. I have asked at another supermarket but not seen this before. I do not think I will return. |
There are Harris Teeters in Maryland. I sometimes use the one in Rockville. I like it better than Wegman’s, but I’ve just never been that into Wegman’s. I like it but I don’t LOVE it, the way some people do. |
