Not sure but our district (in CA) is the only one in the area that has it! There was a brouhaha at a zoom meetings with the super; it remains to be seen what happens next
Maybe the board will suddenly decide to rescind it lol

True. Who needs bus drivers, teachers, cafeteria staff. They aren't needed. Subs can handle everything. Summer school went so well without teachers and bus drivers, why not fall?

When kids make all the subs sick, then parents can step in and volunteer.

So school is just babysitting. A highly qualified teacher in every room is no longer the goal. Achievement is not the point. It's just to get the kids out of the house.
Good to know.

We stayed open all last spring, so.

No you didn't. Lots of students missed class, lots of students didn't have bus service or teachers. That's not open. That's faking it and pretending learning can go on when it can't.

That’s why CDC needs to get rid of the 5 day isolation recommendation or people need to stop testing. Teachers and students being out for 5 days every 2 months isn’t school either. And that’s just for COVID. Add on more days for other colds as and the flu.

After MCPS got rid of quarantines at the beginning of March, Covid-related absences were slashed.

This lacks all common sense.

Yep. The number of people that get symptomatic covid twice in two months is minuscule. That’s obviously not a realistic concern. Yes, it’s common to get the sniffles in the winter, but people have always simply continued to go to work/school.

Prince George’s County public schools are requiring masks again ahead of the new academic year, citing the spread of a highly contagious COVID-19 Omicron subvariant.

You're describing virtual. Lots of students missed class. Lots of students didn't have anything close to a good home environment for learning. That's not open. That's faking it and pretending learning can go on when it can't. So now that that's settled, what is it you want? Masks?

Just like DC, with its vaccine mandate for DCPS students. Unreal. Let’s see what MCPS does.

Why? You are welcome to keep your kids in masks for as long as you like.

Why do you care what other kids do? Why are you so interested in controlling others?

Good lesson - you can’t control other people. You can only control your kids’ behaviors.

Even Katelyn Jetelina is now saying it doesn’t make sense to force kids to wear masks when the community around them isn’t willing to.

MCPS could align with the CDC, *recommending* masks when MoCo is at High, but it shouldn’t reimpose a mask mandate.
