They haven’t been in the line of fire in 40+ years. How much do they really expect to put their bodies in harms way? More or less than the Uvalde SWAT Team? I don’t normally want the military within 1000 feet of Civilian Command. But at least you know the military men and women they would chose would show up sober, take the job seriously, and, yes, take a bullet. Unless the current crop of whores and lushes. |
Fish rots from the head. And Munchin was a very skeezy guy who was available to the highest bidder. |
well, I hate breaking it to you but this is reality, not a Gerald Butler movie. in addition to mega- alpha-male testosterone and big, big balls, the job requires a brain. poeple who do not understand that when you are in a Latin American country to protect the president you cannot go to a local strip club, get drunk and engage with prostitutes, or , in DC, having strangers pay $4000 for your rent of a fancy apartment downtown with pool and so on, should take they big balls and dragged them somewhere else and find a new job |
This is total bullcrap. There are other Presidential appointees that travel with CAT teams. Not only do those CAT teams not engage in the kind of behavior the Secret Service has engaged in they would be immediately dismissed if they did so. The culture of the agency organization does not permit it either. There is no concept of being "off-duty" when traveling with the principal. |
+1 Their most critical skill is paying attention to details even when their days are boring. Have higher stands for everyone, America. No excuses for unprofessional, a-hole behavior. |
| They've been corrupt for a long time. Nothing ever happens to them, just like nothing will happen to those Uvalde cops. |
| If Secret Service doesn't start coming clean, there needs to be heads rolling. |
Heads should have been rolling when Biden took office. Heads should have been rolling last week when the USSS spokesperson got into a public mudslinging contest with the DHS IG. Heads should have rolled yesterday when we learned that they deleted these texts and have been engaged in a coverup. We haven't even seen DHS Secretary Mayorkas make a statement. While I am glad that Biden is President, this is simply another instance where I think he/his Administration is not up for the moment we're in. I think I agree with the poster on the first page that suggested the USSS should be dissolved and re-built from the ground up. It's clear it's corrupt and bloated. Get State's Diplomatic Protection and the intel agencies protective services in for a brainstorming session and poach leaders out of there. Cut out USSS financial crimes and cyber mission, which are better handled elsewhere and get things back on track. |

They were told to preserve all records including text and they deleted it all. Must be nice to not have to worry about the laws or instructions from your boss.
Why are these agents not suspended along with whoever was nominally in charge? Wonder how this would work if the president is assassination? Do they purge all records including who was on duty? |
| I guess USSS does not have to follow orders. You go to the planning meetings, they assign you your responsibilities. When the day comes you think I don’t want to do what I was assigned. I’ll go get a beer at the bar over there. What are they going to do to me…I am a USSS..no one can touch us! |
They did fail to find a bomb planted at the DNC when the VP was there. https://www.politico.com/news/2022/01/06/harris-was-inside-dnc-on-jan-6-when-pipe-bomb-was-discovered-outside-526695 |
Either it was gross ineptitude or they’re so far gone they were trying to get Harris murdered. I’m seeing the phrase Praetorian Guard bandied around a bit on line and I have to agree. Worse: how many other “Praetorian Guards” are in the government right now? |
