Whaddaya got, DCUM? What dinners do you make that DCUM Would NEVER?

That’s not food. I’m not a pearl clutcher but why eat like that? You could get a nice sour dough and havarti with lots of butter. At least it’s actual food.

As for myself, homemade pizza.

Your mom.

No! I think I’ve just been ruined living in Los Angeles. I don’t know anyone who eats like this and I’m also not American. I have found this thread so interesting and had to Google some of the foods. I just didn’t understand why you wouldn’t want real cheese?!!! America has good cheese!!!

Crunchy peanut butter on a toasted English muffin. I made my dh a "proper dinner"--red peppers, mushrooms, potatoes, rolls, green beans, steak, salad and a homemade cake.

That dinner sounds delicious, why didn't you eat it?

Tonight I ordered Thai food on UberEats.

LOVE peanut butter and on an English muffin. I wouldn’t consider that trash processed food if you are using natural peanut and a whole wheat/sprouted grain English muffin. A good meal, if unconventional

I don’t get it either. I never eat like this- it is disgusting. There is plenty of good real food to be found. If I don’t feel like actually cooking I’ll make something super simple like scrambled eggs. I don’t understand why we are celebrating loving garbage food. But a lot of people really love garbage food I guess- hence the obesity epidemic

Sorry, but this just reeks of Stepford Wifedom. Why doesn't he make YOU dinner?

Hahaha, you took the bait!

Today we had a recipe we "learned" from my 7 year old's cooking camp: "pizza quesadillas" with pepperoni. Added some leftover grilled vegetables for the adults to make it "healthy" and fruit for the kids.

You think no one in LA has eaten a simple grilled cheese sandwich make with processed cheese or canned soup or a pre made salad kit? I bet all of those items are available in large supermarkets in LA.

Even if they like elevated grilled cheese sandwiches, some people are occasionally nostalgic for that gooey melted Velveeta between two slices of buttered, pan toasted white bread from their childhood.

LOL! You made my day! I am quite the opposite + I happen to love the Stepford movie. I am more than a feminist. I believe in the superiority of women. We both have our own bank accounts, portfolios, etc. I have worked at home during the pandemic + decided to try cooking. I am a boomer + never took the time to cook before. To my surprise, I like it. I just do not like meat. I had a weird craving for crunchy peanut butter.

Not weird, especially because it’s not you eating it but your kids. As a kid I’d poke at them with a straw and then suck the sausage out.

Where are you from and how old are you? Is this a southern thing? Are they like Spam?

NP and glad you asked this as I, too, am not sure what vienna sausages are (nor do I get why sausages are a “pearl clutch” meal).

Vienna sausages are a cross between a mini hot dog and spam. They are basically highly processed hot dogs that come in a spam type can and can be eaten cold. Not bad fried and added to Mac and cheese or baked beans either. When you pull them out they’d be in kind of a weird gelatinous mixture that sticks to them. Good with ritz crackers and sliced processed cheese food, preferably Velveeta if it was in budget that week. Haven’t eaten any in years but maybe I’ll pick up a can next time I’m at the store. Apparently they come in fancy flavors now.

This made me gag. C’mon people, you can’t seriously enjoy eating this?

Are they popular in Vienna?

Really? How do you make it? DH just came home with that pack and I don't know what to do with all of it.

Toss with olive oil. soy sauce (or just salt), pepper, garlic powder, and balsamic vinegar to taste, then oven roast.
