I cannot believe those poor kids doing nothing more than walking home from school are now dead.

Any car can do 100mph. Any car can be driven recklessly. It isn’t the car. It’s the driver.

It's the type of kid whose daddy buys him a BMW while he's in college. He'll probably plead affluenza like that kid in TX several years ago.

I meant in high school.

Congrats on regularly speeding near a school.

It happened at 11:45 well before the rain.

and reports indicate the BMW was going near 100 mph. This was an idiot kid, with way too powerful of a car.

Some teen doing 100 mph in a BMW? I’m sorry he should be tried as an adult.

The kid is either 16 or 17, so he should be tired as an adult, but I’m pretty sure they will get away from it if his rich

I heard kid is senior and bought BMW with own down payment. Kid was working since 16 yrs old

How would he get credit for a BMW?

So?

If he’s 18 he will be!
So kid is not 16 or 17…. But 18yr old who should be charged as ADULT killed 2 and one is fighting for life

If the accident reconstruction determines that this BMW was indeed being driven somewhere remotely near that speed the driver should be subjected to prosecution for the maximum penalty...and then he should be personally sued and let him/her sort it out with the loser friends who may have been those loser type friends who goad on the driver to show them what the car can really do. My anger wants even the parents who bought this car for their clearly dimwit and irresponsible kid to pay some price that would satisfy our rage but still be acceptable in a civilized society. Every parent of a HS student must be feeling this loss and we all realize that it could have been easily our own kid who suffered this senseless tragic end.

Hopefully at least one of the victim's families rejects the insurance maximum and goes after the parents for everything they are worth. Let jr. get a public defender

Don't hold your breath for a harsh sentence for the driver. I know someone (an adult) that ran over two people while DUI and only served 3 years (suspended sentence down from 20). That's when I learned that when your "weapon" is a car, you can get away with pretty much anything.

I hope the PP thinks twice before doing it again. Just because others do it doesn’t make it right. Goodness gracious.

This is true.

I am so, so sorry for the families joining this unbearable (and way too large) community of people whose loved ones were killed by reckless drivers.

Please share the story with your teen drivers. This is the reality of what happens when the teen brain is behind the wheel.

NP here - are you familiar with Blake Lane? It's a 4-lane divided road - it's one of those places where it "feels" like the speed limit should be 45. And the school is nearby, not directly on Blake Lane. Please note - NONE of this excuses the reckless driving, but just pointing out - if you didn't know the school, you probably wouldn't know it was nearby.

Sure am, my parents live right there. I don’t GAF what speed limit you “feel“ like it is. And don’t act like this is some busy road, it’s surrounded by neighborhoods!

Depending on when the driver got his license, isnt there a a law that says you can't have more than 1 un-related person in the car within like 18 months of getting a license? The purpose to curb having a back seat full of rowdy friends and huge distractions.

“Been there” PP and needed to add that if you are a prayerful person, please pray for these families and their health: it’s a fragile time. Sudden death of a child or children is beyond traumatic and ripples like an earthquake.

Also the parents are expected to make funeral arrangements and soon will have to sit through the agony of it all.

Please check in with your own DC. It’s all over social media and already there are rumors and theories and “I heard” and confusing and horrific details swirling. It’s panic-inducing.

In the hours after our family’s traumatic event, our DC needed extra support in the form of access to a counselor and was having trouble eating and sleeping. Counseling and therapy continue as triggering events like this are in the news. “Counselors are available” has become a standard issue line but is a great first step for students.

Maybe teens shouldn’t be driving.

A teen boy (maybe a little older but not more then 20) swerved into oncoming traffic to pass me on Georgetown Pike mere weeks after another teen boy killed a woman on that same road.
