Apparently the NRA wants to move from Fairfax to Texas. I guess it's a better fit for their lawlessness and corruption.

What would it take to remove the NRA’S tax free status? They certainly should be paying taxes.

How are they tax free? They’re clearly engaged in political lobbying

According to Snopes. they are a tax exempt non profit as a "social welfare" organization.

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/nra-tax-exempt-non-profit/#:~:text=The%20NRA%20has%20non-profit%2C%20tax-exempt%20status.%20Even%20though,Rifle%20Association%20is%20indeed%20a%20tax-exempt%20nonprofit%20organization.

I wonder if the President can cancel their tax-exempt status by executive order? If Wayne LaPierre can spend $55k on one shopping trip for suits and bill it to the NRA, I'd suggest they are making a profit. He also lives like he's earning more than a million dollars per year.

All churches should be taxed too but that's a battle for a different day/topic.

Iirc, the NRA is actually set up as a couple different organizations for tax purposes

Planning something big?

I’m not OP, but it’s time for anyone entering an NRA building to be made as uncomfortable as people trying to enter abortion clinics. We need to show up regularly to harass and taunt them, call them child murderers, and display crime scene photos depicting the aftermath of gun violence.

So you agree that people entering abortion clinics should be made uncomfortable?

By “people,” you mean women seeking health services which could include prenatal care, birth control, help with endometriosis or well women checks.

Who on earth goes to an abortion clinic to get help with endometriosis? That can only be cured by a specific surgery.

There are many of us in DC and NOVA still that are pro gun. I’m a member of a black rifle owners club in DC. As black folk, we take 2a very seriously given our history with the government. We as black folk have every right to not trust the US government ever again (if you are white, read history before you call me a quack) and every right to be armed against it.

I don't understand this line of argument at all, regardless of skin color. This isn't the 18th century where a bunch of red coats without supply lines have to fight against an entrenched population.

Do you not realize that if the mighty U.S. government wanted to take you out, or take a few thousand people out at once, it has the means to do so in a few short hours without any collateral damage to its troops (with most of that time spent simply finding you assuming you were on the run and hiding and a minute to actually kill you?) What's your AR-15 gonna accomplish? It wouldn't even qualify as bringing a knife to a gun fight.

You people just watch way too many stupid action movies.

Why are we spending millions and millions to sent arms to Ukraine then?

Ukraine was invaded. Its own government isn't trying to "take them out". Different situation.

When Russia raided, the Ukrainian government handed out weapons. Most civilians in Ukraine don't own guns, and certainly not assault rifle types.

Correct. And look what happened as a result. And look how, when the got weapons, it helped.

All the guns in the world wouldn't have helped one bit if it weren't for the massive amount of intelligence and surveillance provided by the U.S. as well as the incredible ineptitude and disarray of the Russians, who botched their campaign in every conceivable way.

And it's hilarious to see obese couch potato gun fanatics who wouldn't survive for an hour without air conditioning and a chilled bud light on a summer's day compare themselves to Afghans in an "asymmetric warfare" scenario. The government will cut off your water and electricity and block a few roads so you can't order vitamin water and lunchables on Amazon, and fire off some tear gas to drive you out of your hide-out and you'll be done for. No guns required.

The parents outside the school in Uvalde were armed and it didn't prevent their children from getting slaughtered. Think about that.

They give millions in political contributions. They have been a huge political heavyweight for decades. Their shell game needs to end and their tax-exempt status needs to be revoked.

Planned Parenthood does all of that. It's women's health, not just "abortions." I have personally been to an "abortion clinic" for a gyn exam, because I was new to town and no one else had any openings. It was fine, except all the !$@# out front.

They have a lobbying arm that is not tax exempt, and a non-profit that is tax exempt. It’s a common arrangement for many organizations.

Whelp, I guess shooting someone inside is hard from the outside? He should never have gained access in the first place

No, he shouldn’t have had a mass murder weapon easily accessible.

When I was 16-23 I used Planned Parenthood for my yearly gynecological exam. I didn’t have health insurance.

I’ve never had an abortion.

It’s a woman’s health clinic. Why do you feel like women should be made uncomfortable while medical services related to women’s health?
