What's kid's class rank? That is higher priority to UVA than 35ACT |
No, my DS took AP Spanish in 10th. Took no more language in high school. Was admitted to UVA this season during EA. |
Formally, he's No. 1 (along with everyone else with over a 4.0 wGPA). In terms of where he actually falls, likely in the top 5%, but I'm not really certain. |
Come, join us in our GS3 ROVA high school. Show us yokels how it’s done. |
Why do they do this? |
Best of luck. All of the Eagles with high stats that I know have gotten in |
NO, it’s relatively small for flagship because it was founded over 200 years ago. It’s not like UCLA or Cal -only 4,000 total or less for incoming class |
Dean J puu oh it’s a chart every year with the number of acceptances by county. Some counties send zero or one student. Fairfax is more like 600. Go to MyPeabodynotes.com (or whatever here page is) and you will find it. |
I think they are trying to avoid kids gunning for hundredths of a GPA point in an effort to become the valedictorian. |
Are you familiar with denominators? |
In our district, all advanced academic programs are housed within (as part) of a regular HS. So students not in the program complained (rightly so) that they have basically zero chances to be anywhere near the top of the class, as those programs allow for many more weighted classes and much earlier on. So this year will be the first year which will have no longer rank. |
| Based on how the VT admissions threads went a while back, any predictions on how long it will be after the decisions are released before this thread gets locked? |

I hope for once people can keep their vitriolic comments to themselves and just be happy for others.
Hope dies last. |
