DC is junior and already meeting with counselor at Justice. They do an outstanding job if you are seeking out input with your children. Justice does really well at UVA and VT because small percentage of students go for IB diploma. One my child's best friends got into UVA early decision this cycle is IB candidate and didn't have the insane stats as others rejected elsewhere. It sucks for other schools. But ultimately you are competing with kids at you school more than anywhere else. |
Well happened for us |
| UVA hosting Mike Pence. I’ve been suspicious that UVA is going all MAGA for awhile. Now I feel sure they’re really pandering to OOS southern students. |
Go away, partisan leftist. |
+1 |
Why don't you go try and shut down his speech, along with the other LWNJs who refuse to allow conservative speakers? That'll show him! |
Good Lord you are bigoted |
| Wow, that brought out the trolls. |
Amusing |
But Pence isn’t MAGA |

My kid attended a fairly well regarded HS in FCPS but I have never met the counselor ever and counselor never discussed college choices / if kid was a good candidate or not with child. Didn’t know if it was even an option to meet with counselor. Kid filled out some questionnaire and listed colleges was thinking of applying to. Felt like kid was on own for the process, would’ve been nice to hear if considered competitive for UVA etc or not. Did not know counselors prescreen students for UVA.
Ended up getting lucky and in to a HYPSM early action. UVA EA too. |
| Our school has a college night for juniors in a few weeks. It's not an elite FCPS school. Can't imagine other schools don't do this. |

That sounds wildly unethical in a public school system. I have never heard that- are you sure it’s true? |
