Some of us still working from home would have happily gone back long ago, but were expressly forbidden from doing so. It's not like we're all dragging our feet.

Thank you for standing up to families who think you should still enforce masking. I think it's a completely unreasonable request and inappropriate to expect individual teachers to make it, on top of everything else they're already doing. OTOH, I have a friend in NoVA whose elementary schooler's entire class is still masked at the request of their teacher, so there you go. Good times, all around.

To the PPP— and some of us still working from home will continue to that indefinitely because the flexibility suits us and we have jobs that can be done from anywhere. Don’t tell me what I need to be doing.

You are demanding others work in person to care for your kids and you aren't willing to even allow the most basic safety precautions.

You are confusing me with somebody else. I was responding to the teacher who demands that I go back to working in person because she had to. I said nothing about masking.

That is silly to demand others go back to work in an office as the more that go back to the office, the more chances to get and spread covid, to make it riskier for staff and students.

They need to make that clear in the meeting. Teachers cannot enforce individual family preference.

If you want little Billy to wear his mask, and he rips it off the minute he steps off the bus, it cannot be the teachers responsibility to enforce that.

I've been saying this for weeks. It will ultimately have to be the kids choice because it will get way to complicated for adults to enforce

Stay in your lane. Most jobs can be done remotely. Most companies now recognize this. Working from home will definitely become the norm for most professions. You sound jealous because your job cannot be done remotely. We’ll continue to work from home. Continue going into the building, you’ve got this!

Urgency of normal days we have to get back to life in February 2020 and that should include your soul sucking commute and having to wear pantyhose!

Right, as a teacher I am exhausted from mask reminders. I have too many other things to work on with them. I will be done giving mask reminders if/when this goes into effect. Wear them on your chins kids and let’s get back to business!

Based on recent traffic, I don't think PAGES cares as much about masking now as they did about the issues from last spring and fall. There was much more chatter about Omicron than about this. The (fewer) posts aren't getting as many likes, etc. Some teachers who are upset that MCEA didn't poll all the teachers before arriving at their current masking position and others are worried about future variants but it is a Covid nervous group so that's to be expected.

Yes, it's secret. Back when I joined (and answered the screening questions completely honestly), before most of DCUM had ever heard of it, I didn't realize how fringe it was. The administrators are worried that the Together Again group will infiltrate them.

One teacher wanted to see if he could have the option to ask kids to mask even without the mask mandate in place. These people are loony!!

Meanwhile, they are all worried about their little masked kids getting bullied by the anti-masker. But you KNOW that the teacher will say things like "guys dont you think we should all keep our masks on since we all care about each other so much."

And the one or two kids without masks will feel singled out by the teacher.

The funny part is the maskless parents advocating for no masks are bullying everyone to agree with them and then they are then complaining about potential bullying. The simple way to solve this concern is to continue masking your kids.

+1 In high anxiety moco, the vast majority of people won't say anything if you mask. Go into a store -- majority are still masking. And that's fine. They have the right to do what they want.

My one kid says they will not mask, while my other kid said they will probably mask sometimes. That's fine. They can make their own choices in that regard.

CDC says we can go maskless, so we are following the science.

They said you can but didn't say that was the best thing to do. I mean if you're okay with long haul covid go for it.

Someone's risk assessment needs a major adjustment.

They said you can because they felt that based on the numbers, it's ok to do so. You clearly make decisions on fear and anxiety rather than hard data.

The fact is it takes one person to bring it into the school and share it with everyone. It is not anxiety and fear not to get sick for a week or two based off someone else's selfish behavior.

The fact is that covid is here to stay, so if you don't want to catch it, then stay home. Don't go out to eat; don't travel. Make everyone wear a mask and gloves whenever you go out.

Something is seriously wrong with you. I don’t eat out or travel. And, yes we will continue to mask. I prefer to teach my kids social responsibility by example.

The CDC, the state of MD, MoCo, MCPS and now the teacher's union have ALL stated that masks should be optional, yet you want to keep masking , but something is seriously wrong with me?

I have a job that pays your salary, and those of central office, staff, and subs. I pay a sh1t ton in taxes in the private sector. I do my job so that you can do your job, and vice versa.

But, I'll say again.. the CDC, state Health board, County health board, MCPS AND the teacher's union have all stated that masks can be optional. People who didn't want to wear masks wore them when it was required because they were following guidelines. Those same agencies that implemented mask mandates are now saying masks are optional, so I and many others will follow their guidelines and wear them as optional.

If you don't like your job, then quit. Based on the MCAP metrics, it doesn't seem like you did much teaching last year anyways. I certainly wasn't getting my taxepayer money's worth last year.
