Throughout this whole thing, I have done what the CDC says. It's time. Oh, and people who are still working from home, it's time for you, too. We've been back for over a year. You've got this.

Some of us still working from home would have happily gone back long ago, but were expressly forbidden from doing so. It's not like we're all dragging our feet.

Thank you for standing up to families who think you should still enforce masking. I think it's a completely unreasonable request and inappropriate to expect individual teachers to make it, on top of everything else they're already doing. OTOH, I have a friend in NoVA whose elementary schooler's entire class is still masked at the request of their teacher, so there you go. Good times, all around.

Yup. Me and my team would love to go back. But we are limited to 1 day a week.

Costs are WAY down. No travel reimbursements. No catered lunches. Heck, they even terminated one of the leases for one of the floors we had occupied in our building.

They are not sending us back; they are rolling in the $$$ with the savings.

Also, ultimately the union risks losing some of its power but being absurd and making unreasonable demands in the face of this freight train. Portland Oregon is unmasking for gods sake. Horse is out of the barn in the next town. By supporting this they save their capital for things they can actually influence like pay and benefits. Ultimately most members will appreciate that decision.

Not the God awful clowns on the PAGES group. They are still trying to keep universal masking.

Lol. Those guys are a hoot. I bet they are saying stuff like

"If we unmask, at least require daily testing!"

"If they are going to force us to work in these viral petri dishes, they should at least switch back to hybrid!"

Or, "I can't believe there are so many Trumpers on the MoCo BOE"

One teacher wanted to see if he could have the option to ask kids to mask even without the mask mandate in place. These people are loony!!

Oh my gosh, really?

Meanwhile, they are all worried about their little masked kids getting bullied by the anti-masker. But you KNOW that the teacher will say things like "guys dont you think we should all keep our masks on since we all care about each other so much."

And the one or two kids without masks will feel singled out by the teacher.

After they have their tantrums of masking and win, they need something new to complain about.

Its completely unreasonable to expect a teacher or staff to get within 6-10 feet of your child if they/you refuse to mask them. And, if other kids choose to keep their distance, that's not bullying that is safety.

If a teacher suggests that the kids should wear their masks because they are good people and caring people, that is bullying the children that are not wearing masks.

And actually, it is reasaonable to expect a teacher to get within 6-10 feet of my child, masked or not

wow! Why would they sell out their members like this?

Who cares? Goodbye masks. It’s the right decision.

If you love COVID and getting long haul COVID sure.

DP.. you are being an a$$, or just seriously cannot assess risk. But, sure, mask for eternity if you want to. But the rest of us know the risks; most of us are fully vaxxed and/or already had/exposed to covid.

If you love COVID and getting long haul COVID sure.

I suggest you home school your kids, or if you are teacher, then quit because your own union agrees that it's time for mask optional.

The funny part is the maskless parents advocating for no masks are bullying everyone to agree with them and then they are then complaining about potential bullying. The simple way to solve this concern is to continue masking your kids.

Lol. JFC you live in your own reality.

These parents just want the choice to send their kid unmasked. We couldn't give a rats a$s if you send your kid masked.

But the Covidians all have their panties in a bunch that their little masked kid will get bullied. But that's not gonna happen. Not in MoCo, at least. It would be the opposite. The unmasked kid will get called a 'Grandma-killer' or something worse. Something that they heard around YOUR dinner table

You are so suddenly worried about your kids being treated the same way you've treated everyone else for the past two years.

I hope I'm wrong. But this board has the powers to be idiotic. I'm just preparing myself for the worst.

Also, I emailed BOE today saying "I support being mask optional for these reasons" and I listed out reasons, such as " the County is mask optional, MSDE has given all public school districts in Maryland permission, etc." (I didn't use any inflammatory words.... just logic!)

+1 In high anxiety moco, the vast majority of people won't say anything if you mask. Go into a store -- majority are still masking. And that's fine. They have the right to do what they want.

My one kid says they will not mask, while my other kid said they will probably mask sometimes. That's fine. They can make their own choices in that regard.

CDC says we can go maskless, so we are following the science.

Stay in your lane. Most jobs can be done remotely. Most companies now recognize this. Working from home will definitely become the norm for most professions. You sound jealous because your job cannot be done remotely. We’ll continue to work from home. Continue going into the building, you’ve got this!

Please let your teens decide if and when they would like to unmask. Making a child responsible for the health of the entire family is a big burden. The best thing you can do for yourself is get vaxxed and boosted. Let your children be children.

It's really more of a question for public health experts than personal preference.

They need to make that clear in the meeting. Teachers cannot enforce individual family preference.

If you want little Billy to wear his mask, and he rips it off the minute he steps off the bus, it cannot be the teachers responsibility to enforce that.

The teachers role as the mask police must end

Thanks for standing up for your class, but so many other things wrong in your post. First of all, you haven’t been back in person for “over a year..” it will only be a year, next week. Second of all, you don’t work in an industry that allows for remote work, so you really shouldn’t speak on behalf of remote employees. We’re not getting back to work because companies (rightfully) realized that we don’t have to be in buildings to do our jobs effectively or efficiently. We get our work done from our home offices just fine. We don’t need input from people who don’t understand. Good riddance.

Well then make sure they wear masks, FFS.
