Is this one of those "let's get an argument going" posts? A little too troll'ish this time.

+1 Maybe they are representing most of the teachers here who want to have masks optional now, you know.. because we are following CDC guidelines.

I don’t like working in a mask. I’m sure many teachers feel the same way. Also, ultimately the union risks losing some of its power but being absurd and making unreasonable demands in the face of this freight train. Portland Oregon is unmasking for gods sake. Horse is out of the barn in the next town. By supporting this they save their capital for things they can actually influence like pay and benefits. Ultimately most members will appreciate that decision.

Not the God awful clowns on the PAGES group. They are still trying to keep universal masking.

Who cares? Goodbye masks. It’s the right decision.

I wasn’t expecting that either.

Ugh. This sucks. We have two teens in MCPS and one of us is both parents have underlying conditions. We were really hoping they’d keep the mask mandate in place through the end of the school year

You have options for high quality masks, especially for teens. One-way masking is effective if executed properly.

Following CDC guidance is “selling out”?

What makes you think they are selling out members? Many teachers are ready to unmask. Not all I am sure, but opinions there reflect the wide range of opinions in the world because teachers are people.

What's the difference? Masks can be reinstated if need be. Nearly 2/3 of our country has "underlying conditions" (overweight). If you are this afraid, homeschool or do online learning. Your poor kids.
