this is kind of the last straw for many Dems in his district. He has let them down on gun legislation and has cozied up to corporations way too much.

This. We've been saying this about Chap for YEARS now. But haven't found a primary challenger. I hope this is the last straw becuase he is definitely more of a progressive conservative than he is a moderate democrat.

Okay but he got the attention of a lot of Rs. We didn’t vote for him then but we will now. I don’t care about party lines. I’m voting for the person and he has my vote.

And that is exactly why he pushed this crap bill. It’s a political stung to garner votes.

This. He’s pandering to stupid people, self-involved people and both.

Only stupid people favor dropping the forced masking of schoolchildren.

I don’t care about the Danish or the British! They are stupid too, and their science must be worse than our local science around here.

Anonymous wrote:Chap is a friend of mine from college. He is very genuine. What you see is what you get. He's been an elected Democrat since 2001 (he was out of office from 2005-2007). I can't see him changing parties. I think he decided that he would not seek higher office when he founded the "Redskins Pride Caucus" in the General Assembly in 2014, which advocated for keeping that name. He truly believed that the name symbolized good qualities, and he didn't care that being on that side of the issue would likely prevent him from going anywhere further in Democratic politics. Not to mention that he represented Advanced Towing when it was sued by Attorney General Herring, which means he would have a tough time getting Democratic votes in Arlington.

Has he apologized for supporting the racist “Redskins” name?

This whole Redskins bs. Who gives a damn? Americans are far far too focused on symbolic racism and not nearly enough on structural racism.

while I don't completely disagree with your premise, I think it is hard to deal with structural racism without dealing with the symbols at the same time

If Chap has to “apologize” then so does like 10% of the total population of NoVa judging by how much Redskins gear I still see out there. And a lot of it being worn by older non-white people!

Chap didn’t want to protect kids from predatory coaches.

Wish we had a senator like Creigh Deeds - he is truly pragmatic and moderate - too bad he didn’t beat McDonnell when he ran for governor. This legislation provides no flexibility and citing to The Atlantic is not what any lawyer worth his salt would do and Peterson is a lawyer. The amendment and letter are stunts to garner attention. Peterson probably wants to run for governor.

Creigh Deeds is awesome! Chap is a publicity hound not interested in serving his constituents but just getting votes. Yup, his whole “argument” is based on a magazine article co-written by a veterinarian.

Deeds is an old boy network racist. The primary a few years ago proved that.

FWIW, Peterson is also a vile racist.

Both need to be replaced with true progressives.
