+1 wish he was in my district.

I really wish he'd move to Alexandria so I could vote for him!

OMG SAME! we are stuck with Ebbin and Bennett, who only vote for the most progressive viewpoints possible. Nothing else. Nothing.

He’s a terrible deplorable, extreme MAGA trump-supremacist!

He’s a Democrat

Yes he and youngkin need to be recalled. I am very surprised there is no recall efforts. What are the democrats doing?

Are you even an Virginian???? Or some bot posting to stir things up. Virginians are sick and tired of our state and regional news being nationalized. That playbook didn't work well for McAullife, and it will continue to push the average Virginian (who is moderate) away from the Democratic Party. Please just stop, it's not helping.

LOL at my autocorrect, even DCUM is trying to make us Virginians look bad. Had to post before someone else microfocused on the error.

So he should’ve set metrics that specify when mask mandates stop and when they can go back. But instead he banned them based on article he read in a magazine. This is not a serious man trying to help his district. He just wants attention.

How are metrics going to change when everyone can eat out at any restaurant, drink in any bar, go on any holiday - even cruises! - go to the Super Bowl or the Wizards game unmasked - how do you think metrics are going to change? Why are schools the only covid mitigation measure left in this state?

Those are all optional activities run by private businesses. FWIW I do think masking should be required in those places too.

School is mandatory.

He's a DB for pulling this political stunt.

Either there is a pandemic or there is not a pandemic. It's not ok to say that all the nonessential activities in the state can be open but schools - arguably the most important thing in a society - need to bear the brunt of all those recreational activities. It's irresponsible to make learning more difficult so businesses can be open and parents and teachers drink at the bar.

There is a pandemic and I would absolutely prioritize schools higher than bars.

This isn't a spite thing or a knee-jerk reaction, right?

He is not very woke at all, if you look at his record.

What does woke mean?

there is definitely a lot of chatter right now about getting him a primary challenger or two. I've yet to see an actual name mentioned - I will be interested to see who steps forward.

this is kind of the last straw for many Dems in his district. He has let them down on gun legislation and has cozied up to corporations way too much.

This. We've been saying this about Chap for YEARS now. But haven't found a primary challenger. I hope this is the last straw becuase he is definitely more of a progressive conservative than he is a moderate democrat.

That's an excellent description. He's only a D because R candidates aren't as successful in NoVA.

Why not Dr. Scott Brabrand?

If RWNJs can seek to recall local school boards, it's time to use the same tactics to recall Petersen. He reecived 44,058 votes in his last reelection so it would require 4,406 signatures.

Is anyone on this? Time to make him pay for his negligence with his job.

Why the heck is he trying to give parents a choice in masking here??

Chap must go!

This notion that parents are in charge of their children's education is nauseating. They're not. We don't educate children for the good of parents. We educate them for the good of society. This entire paradigm is ridiculous and derived from the me-me-me self-centeredness of millennials. Previous generations understood what it meant to sacrifice and serve the community.
