It's time to recall Chap Petersen

Anonymous
I haven't looked up the numbers but my impression is that he wins primaries and reelections easily and is popular in his district. Is that not the case?

So he should’ve set metrics that specify when mask mandates stop and when they can go back. But instead he banned them based on article he read in a magazine. This is not a serious man trying to help his district. He just wants attention.

I don’t think he has had primary challengers.

Exactly.

We've voted for so many progressives in Fairfax county that a center-left moderate looks like Attila the Hun.

A moderate Dem for once!...and his fellow Dems want to recall him.

You guys really are crazy (left).

If no one is challenging him in primaries, you know he's popular and wins easily.

How are metrics going to change when everyone can eat out at any restaurant, drink in any bar, go on any holiday - even cruises! - go to the Super Bowl or the Wizards game unmasked - how do you think metrics are going to change? Why are schools the only covid mitigation measure left in this state?

It's the same strategy the Rs undertook more than a decade ago. Next thing you know, Chap will be a DINO and there will be DINO Hunters supporting primary challengers for anyone incumbent that strays from whatever the progressive orthodoxy is.

Or he has skated by in the past by pretending to be a D.

Those are all optional activities run by private businesses. FWIW I do think masking should be required in those places too.

School is mandatory.

He's a DB for pulling this political stunt.

He's one of the original co-sponsors of the original bill that was later hijacked by Northam to become the "mask mandate".

So you liked him then, but not now?

Either there is a pandemic or there is not a pandemic. It's not ok to say that all the nonessential activities in the state can be open but schools - arguably the most important thing in a society - need to bear the brunt of all those recreational activities. It's irresponsible to make learning more difficult so businesses can be open and parents and teachers drink at the bar.
