The entire Civil Rights division for Virginia is gone

Only very progressive ones. Warranted too considering Youngkin has to hire additional staff to prosecute property crimes in Fairfax County that our progressive Commonwealth Attorney refuses to touch. Basically firing extremists.

You can blame the irrational voters who voted for him. They are fully responsible for their own vile actions.

No. You need to face reality. Youngkin was elected directly because of the unnecessary and deeply harmful school closures, which lie directly at the feet of the Democratic power structure. The sooner that the Democrats recognize this truth, the better.

You can continue to insult his voters all you want. But the people who really elected Youngkin are the many reliable Democrats who stayed home because they were so disgusted by the school closures. Youngkin won because people were angry at the fact that their kids weren’t educated for 18 months. Democrats used to be seen as the party of education, and they aren’t any more. It’s a foundational shift, and I worry it is going to turn the entire country over to the Republicans. People used to put up with Democrats because they trusted them to educate their kids. But that trust is lost, possibly permanently.

You get that schools are now more likely to shut down due to high case rates if Governor Trumpkin succeeds in enforcing his executive order banning mask requirements, right?

I wish the Dems were this ruthless. Rs don’t give a crap about any ramifications as long as they can stick it to the other side.

If you’re going to lie, at least fact check first. The 2021 Virginia Gubernatorial was actually the highest turnout in history including 2017, 2013, 2009, and 2005.

2021 - 3.2 million voters
2017 - 2.5 million voters
2013 - 2.1 million voters
2009 - 1.9 million voters

Right, made up of enthused Republicans, not disillusioned Democrats.

Jesus, you people are dumb. Of course this is true! And it is terrible. That is precisely an example of the problem with the horrifying approach that the Democrats took. Supporting the shut-down of education for 18 months without scientific justification and clearly only to overtly pander to Democrat-supporting trade groups was a politically disastrous decision. It was extremist, destroyed trust in the party, and worse, led directly to the election of someone who will do idiotic things like ban mask mandates and worse.

And don't start with the pass-the-buck position that closures were local. McAuliffe incomprehensibly was campaigning with Randi Weingarten (who seems to want to shutter education permanently) days before the election. That sent a powerful message about how much McAuliffe cared about educating kids, and, well, the message was received loud and clear.

..and I am still angry at them for the harm they did to students and families across our region.

You are blaming Democrats for Youngkin’s decision to gut basic public health measures in a way that dramatically increases the odds of schools hitting down again? Come down, don’t be so disingenuous. The Democrats didn’t force Youngkin to do this, it was entirely his own decision to pander to the Trumper base.

You were mad at local school administrators and school boards because they took a global pandemic seriously.

Youngkin won’t fix any of that.

No, not for "taking it seriously," for making terrible decisions and failing in their core responsibilities to educate and look after the well being of students.

School systems across the country and around the world handled the pandemic far better by actually "following the science" and keeping kids in classrooms where they belonged.

I am blaming Democrats for every terrible decision we will see from Youngkin. This was their election to lose. It is the fault of the Democrats' inexplicable support for shutting down education for 18 months that will bring us years of terrible decisions from Youngkin.

Keep trying to justify your own poor decision to vote for Youngkin. This is all on people like you.

What are you talking about? Virginia isn’t closed and people are already working?

+1 The current Virginia unemployment rate is 3.4%, you wackos.

Every single Youngkin voter is responsible for this egregious and extremist act. It was obvious from the start that he was a right wing nut job, but some of you insisted on lying to yourselves and others about that. Thanks for inflicting this immoral ideologue on the region.

So this thread is seven pages long and the title still states the entire civil rights division is gone. Can someone point me to a factual report that states this actually happened, or is this just fake news that for some reason is allowed to stand?
