I have not a care in the world if you think my teaching is good this year or if you think I am good teacher- you are some crazy person online to me. I do care about keeping my high risk family members safe. |
+1, I always chuckle on this forum when parents judge teachers, teachers do not even care what these anonymous trolls think of them. |
And this is why masked need to be removed now. Because some people do think they should be worn forever. |
I agree. So much never-ending hysteria. |
+1 at least make sure this surge is over. |
I agree. Again, this is very obvious to reasonable, intelligent people. That’s why I suspect many of the responses are right-wing anti-mask/anti-vax types just trying to make it appear as though a lot of FCPS parents don’t want masks. I’m not thrilled about the fact that there is a a need for masking 2 yrs in, but my family and I will do it for as long as the world’s scientists and medical professionals recommend it overwhelmingly and almost without exception, which is the case now. Unfortunately we have right-wing anti-mask and anti-vax COVIDiots to blame for this long, drawn-out pandemic |
I'd LOVE to see your peer-reviewed source for this statement. |
I can tell you that I have close friends who are IAs and they will quit if the mask mandates end this year. I am sure there are others. There already aren’t enough IAs. These are retired teachers who do it to keep busy. There are a lot of them. |
They won’t end it before the end of the school year (with FCPS), the majority teachers want it through the current surge and FCPS is so conservative they’ll just extend it to June. |
Good. We want mask mandates to be guided by epidemiological recommendations, not politics. |
FWIW, even in schools that don't have a mandate, everyone is still required by federal law to wear masks on the buses.
Now, I know the drivers cannot pay attention to the road and police the kids who don't wear a mask on the bus. But, by federal law, every kid/adult who steps onto any bus (school bus or otherwise) is REQUIRED to have a mask on. I imagine a lot of kids in those districts that don't require masks to have a faux mask when they step on the bus and then take it off for the ride. But, that is not legal per DOT. |
I saw the Fcps bus drive through my neighborhood last week. Most kids had their mask on their chin! |
I am a parent, but I know a lot of teachers and some of them are worried. |
Our bus driver arrived the first few days of school maskless. We had to call and complain. I was stunned. |
As we should be. The parents should be worried too - that there won’t be enough staff at their kids school if the mask mandate is lifted. |
