No their stars play at the pro level for the big clubs. Other countries send their 3rd teamers here and they out play the locals.

Yeah. Their 3rd teamers are better than our first teasers. Bing bong!

You named 19 - not even enough to fill a roster. There over 300 D1 soccer programs for girls. The average roster size is around 25.

300 x 25 is 7,500 girls playing college D1 in our nation.

If any of our girls want to skip college and go pro, have at it. But we have the numbers and that's why we will remain strong.

Lotte Wubben Moy played for Arsenal as a 16 year old. She left Arsenal to go to UNC and played for 3 years. She returned to Arsenal and is a regular in England’s national team now as a 22 year old.

Alesia Russo played for Chelsea as a 16 year old. She then left to go to UNC and played for 3 years. She returned to Manchester United and has played a couple times for England’s national team now as a 22 year old.

Ruby Grant played for Arsenal as a 16 year old. She then left Arsenal to go to UNC and just finished her freshman year.

Emily Murphy played for Chelsea as a 17 year old. She then left to go to UNC and just finished her freshman year.

Why do these girls, who play for some of England’s best pro clubs, as well as England’s national youth team, leave England to come play college soccer in the US?

Because the US has the most competitive 18-21 league for girls in the world.
It's called the NCAA...and they can get a college degree for free while playing in it. It's not rocket science.

BYU make the national finals with 90 percent of their players from Utah and no international players.

Really did? What happened at the Olympics? Yes we are just crushing it …lol. Europe keeps losing to us. Europe has the best women soccer in the world and it’s not even close. Go watch Barca women’s play. Both games last night were the same- slow speed of play, low soccer iq and thuggish play. Why would anyone expect more from amateur part time soccer?

Remind me the European team that won gold in the last Olympics? Oh, never mind. It was Canada. BTW, 21 of the 22 players on their Olympic roster played college soccer, and Canada's youth development model is very similar to the US.

But let's not allow facts to get in the way of your primary point, which is that Europe has the best women's soccer in the world. Fortunately for this discussion, the top European club teams have played the top NWSL teams in the Women's International Champions Cup in 2018, 2019 and 2021. Those tournament games included Lyon, Barcelona, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Atletico Madrid. Let's see what happened in those games:

In the 2018 tournament, North Carolina Courage won, with Lyon finishing second.

In the 2019 tournament, Lyon won, with North Carolina courage finishing second.

in the 2021 tournament, Portland Thorns finished first, with Lyon finishing second. BTW, Barcelona finished third.

I understand these are small sample sizes, there are only a few actual games played in this tournament, the club teams may not take them that seriously, etc, etc, etc. I also think it is a fair debate whether Europe has the top women's club teams, as Lyon have been historically dominant in Europe, the top English teams are getting better and better with additional money being pumped into the Women's Super League, and Barca is currentlly an excellent club team. However, it has to be noted that the top US women's club teams have won head-to-head in 2 of these 3 tournaments.

Wait a second you are saying a pre season tournament for the European club teams and a in season tournament for the NWSL is a good indication of which teams are the best? How do you think the Washington Spirit would do against Barca right now? They would lose. That Barca team and about 5-6 other European club teams would easily beat Spirit and the USWNT.

This is a nice summary but it isn’t painting the full picture.

In 2018 Courage won while three of the top four teams were all European.

In 2019, Courage lost in the finals while, again three of the top four teams were again all European.
