I always wanted a dog named Kyle because I like the sound of the word. It's a hard start with a smooth finish. It also plays well with accents.

We usually name our dogs after Greek or Roman deities. Last dog was named Athena (Greek goddess of war). Then my kids' class had a new girl start--Athena. Whoops.

OP again. Thanks for all the responses. I am clearly in the wrong here. DD wants to name out new puppy Emmie and I’m glad it’s not going to be seen as unkind or insulting.

Meh. I named my child a popular dog name. Only other time I’ve heard someone calling his name was at a dog park. Whatever. He’s a teenager now and likes it so I’m cool with it.
