I’m on vacation somewhere hot. Every tourist place we visit has a long line. Every Asian woman in the line looks beautiful. Not sweaty, typically no sneakers. Often uncomfortable looking shoes. Cute outfit. Tasteful makeup. How do they not look sweaty and gross? How can they walk around in heels? |
Are you in Rome?
Heels?? Sneakers these days can be cute. |
Have you been to Japan? It's boiling hot in summer and humid, but the women are always put together. Modest but stylish. |
Lots of Asians don’t actually sweat or have body odor. It’s due to the same gene that gives them the dry earwax. |
For lack of a better phrase, the culture emphasizes keeping your sh*t together, it's disgraceful to be out of control and that translates to appearance for many. |
Which is possible because, again, they are genetically unable to sweat very much if at all |
Not in Rome. Some wear wedge heels. Some have sneakers with wedge heels. Some have pumps on. They really look fabulous. |
News to me, and I'm Asian. |
Then I guess you’re one of the unlucky, stinky minority. |
When I went to China many years ago the guide told our group (when someone needed to buy deodorant bc she forgot hers) that we wouldn’t find any away from most cities bc they don’t have bo there and never wear it. |
Haha, me too! I guess I can throw out my deoderant and stop showering? |
I think it's mostly just americans that look like a hot mess when they travel. |
Sorry you’re smelly but most of us aren’t. https://www.sciencenews.org/blog/gory-details/what-your-earwax-says-about-your-ancestry |
Of course Asians sweat, like everyone else. Most of the perfectly made up and dressed in heels tourists tend to eschew physically demanding activities, stay in shade/wear hats, etc. They're dainty travelers that you'll never see carrying a backpack or go on a hiking trail. I have friends like that, and I can never travel with them. Very different style. |
You’re wrong. Today, in our group, we had Germans, Dutch, British, French, Americans, Japanese and Koreans. It was over 100 degrees. All of us were exhausted looking and sweaty except the Japanese and Korean women. They really looked like they were standing in 69 degree weather wearing comfortable items. |
