A compliment to Asian women who travel

I have friends like that, and I can never travel with them. Very different style.

Oh yes. These are my relatives from Asia (I'm Asian American). They especially hate getting any sun. My aunt carries a sun parasol wherever she goes. They are not active vacationers. If you have ever been on a tour catering to Asian tourists, the activity is mainly ride around on a bus, stop and look at things and take a nice picture, get back on the bus.

I completely agree with you, OP. Even around here at playgrounds with my young DC, the Asian woman look so put together -- like out of a Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom ad.

I had no idea about Asian sweat glands or ear wax.

Asian American mom here. I have days i look very put together. I guarantee that I can look like a hot mess. I’m wearing my glasses wearing an oversized t shirt and yoga pants. I guarantee I do not look good always. I do have a million cute dresses and tons of designer shoes that kill my feet. I swap shoes often. My best friend wears beautiful shoes always. She doesn’t have kids though. I have 3.

It’s partly true. They actually sweat more, but not the kind of sweat that ends up smelling. Asian dh can work out in the morning, not shower, and no BO in the evening. It’s awesome.

You’re wrong. Today, in our group, we had Germans, Dutch, British, French, Americans, Japanese and Koreans. It was over 100 degrees. All of us were exhausted looking and sweaty except the Japanese and Korean women. They really looked like they were standing in 69 degree weather wearing comfortable items.

It's because they're skinny.

I bet your aunt has damn good skin.

Sun parasols or even dark umbrellas are a damn good option. Why don't more people do that here? Walking in blazing sun is not cool.

This is true.

My asian mom had no unnecessary body hair (pits, legs, arms) and did not need deodorant (no BO).

She had no understanding of why her half white daughters needed to use deodorant or shave.

Made for a furry, sweaty, stinky middle school experience until we were old enough to earn babysitting money to sneak buy our own hygiene supplies.

I accept that maybe they don’t sweat (so makeup looks nice and their clothes aren’t matted down do their skin and their hair isn’t frizzy or half wet), but even so, very few people wear uncomfortable shoes for a day like.

+1 Omg same here! I used to have to hide deodorant from my mom.

Asian American here. It's true about the ear wax type and BO, but I'd never heard that about sweat. I sweat. My sister sweats so much that she uses a prescription antiperspirant to stop it. It's definitely true for East Asians and body odor, assuming you have the dry ear wax. If I work out, I will smell sweaty, but don't have BO. My white husband is super jealous.
