In season is between you and the DA coach, but i'm not sure when you would have time. Off season is free game. |
Anyone know where D-ODP will be training other than Arlington and Loudoun? |
Try the D-ODP web page: http://www.vysa.com/DevelopementalODP/NorthD-ODP/index_E.html You register for the location nearest you. |
Thanks. I checked the website I must have missed it. |
I'm curious see to how the Spirit DA works out.
My kid played Super Y for one their teams last year and it was an absolute joke. Costs were enormous compared to other Super Y clubs, Spirit was terrible about getting information out to the parents, the uniforms were awful, but hey my got a "Washington Spirit Season Ticket" as part of her hefty registration fee. Talk about a cash grab. I would definitely start with FCV or VDA based on my experience, but maybe the Spirit have their s--- together now. They were able to partner with that area superclub Reston after SYA, BRYC, Arlington, and Loudon told them to pound sand. |
Spirit just license their name to partner clubs. The absolute joke of a program you would be referring to would be the host club, MSI on the MD side and VYS on the VA side. The coaches come from those clubs and are not Spirit coaches at all. It might be a money grab but Spirit only has partnerships, look at the club who used the brand to entice you to sign up and blame them. |
Sigh. Super Y and partnerships to fill stadium halftimes with scrimmaging teams are one thing. The US Soccer-sponsored Development Academies are a whole different thing. The kids on the Spirit DA teams have come from all over the DC metro area--they are not stacked with players from the partner clubs, which basically just provide practice field space. Once the US Soccer website is fully populated, you'll be able to see who's on the roster for yourself. More info here: http://washingtonspirit.com/da/ and here http://www.ussoccerda.com/home.php. Maybe not this year, but within the next five, I bet the Spirit DA dominates the VDAs and the FCVs. That is, as long as the NWSL remains viable! |
NWSL will remain viable. I do wonder if the Spirit will be sold at some point, but with D.C. United also on the market now, the most obvious buyer is currently out of the picture. |
What tournaments are you all doing to start the season? |
You know nothing of FCV or VDA or Spirit. Super Y is Super Y. Don't think for one second that Super Y and DA are related...reguardless the name attached. SYA...who? Arlington...who? Loudoun...who? Not one elite team on the girls side over u14. |

ECNL tournaments do not get counted in Youth Soccer Rankings. |
What in the world are those rankings...lol...nobody cares about that nonsense...ECNL...DA don't do Gotsoccer...stop with the BS.
You wanna know where the elite kids are? Look at college signings. Period. My lord..you put Soca u17 elite above FCV Ecnl...by for real. CCL flunkies |
Stop with the Gotsoccer..youth soccer rankings...they mean absolutely nothing. Zero...nada...except to illiterate parents that get off on a fake ranking |
WTF are you talking about? What are you defining as an "elite team"? The Spirit DA was, until this spring, set to partner with the four clubs: SYA, BRYC, Arlington, and Loudon. That fell apart for various reasons with each of the 4 clubs. One of the reasons given was that each club was asked for 100K to fall under the Spirit Academy. Fact. I know VDA is currently partnered with VSA, PWSI, VYS, and CYA. My understanding was that FCV (since it was leaving ECNL) was going to partner with Loudon to give a DA and non-DA to the girls. BTW: If you could read, I never made a claim that Super Y and DA are related. My claim was that the participating in Spirit Super Y program was a mess because the Spirit chose not to run it correctly, and were merely looking for cash. Moreover, I'm not convinced the Spirit can or are really interested in running a DA --- maybe I am wrong, but I'll believe it when I see. If you check the Spirit website, they are already trying to justify why their costs are higher relative to other programs --- but hey you can probably get an autographed picture with Mallory Pugh. |
