| Aside from alcohol and obviously late night snacking, the free cafeterias (with freshman meal plan) are probably where most kids gain the freshman 15, yeah? Are there a couple easy to digest tips for that environment to stay fit? One thing that I did clarify after her orientation is that orange juice -- even fresh squeezed -- (in the morning) isn't healthy. She thought it was the coolest thing and was sending me pics of her enjoying a tall glass each morning. |

Please, please, please tell me this is a troll.
Your kid was excited about OJ (not beer or crack for breakfast .. or even soda for that matter..) for breakfast and you've ruined her spirits already? |
| BACK. OFF. |

omg you sound awful and like you are setting her up for an ED.
Here's a tip: she's an adult. Leave her alone. |
| Agree with PPs. your line of thinking is way too controlling. |
| The advice is she should enjoy her college experience without her parents trying to control what she eats |
|
Dafuq? Orange juice isn't healthy? In what universe?
Tang, I agree with you. Fresh-squeezed OJ? What weird ideas you have. |

My advice for you is to deal with your food issues on your own time. Do not give your daughter ONE IOTA of food, diet or exercise advice unless she ASKS YOU FOR EXACTLY THAT. As in: "Mom, I've gained weight, will you help me figure out how to lose it?" If she does not say that your main goal is to SHUT UP and say positive things only. Even if she comes home with the freshmen 30 lbs you do NOT say a single word. That ship sailed.

Honestly my kids walk miles every day between classes, activities and their dorms that they could probably eat ten meals a day and be fine.
Is this the first time in her life she's had to make her own eating decisions? My kids already know that fruit and yogurt are better than a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit, or that a salad is better than a cheeseburger and fries. My bigger concern is that they don't eat enough. They skip breakfast and grab something quick between classes, sometimes only eating one real meal a day. |
| The dining hall food is going to get old for her after awhile. She'll be doing a ton of walking just to get to class. I wouldn't worry about the kid drinking OJ in the morning. |
| trolls gonna troll |
“SERIOUSLY, ORANGE JUICE ISN'T HEALTHY” - THE NEW YORK TIMES https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/07/opinion/sunday/juice-is-not-healthy-sugar.html 12oz glass has 10 TEASPOONS OF SUGAR Most kids down a 12 or even 20oz glass without twice thinking about it. |
| The dining hall food probably isn't that great. Don't worry about it. Even if she gains weight, she can lose it. |
Not according to DCUM and its aversion to anything with sugar (even naturally occurring!) and obsession with protein. |
I think you meant to say "even if she gains weight, that's not your problem as she is an adult". |
