My daughter is heading to a college with amazing free cafeterias - any advice?

You really think kids go into college hoping or not caring they gain 15 or 20 pounds? Get real, teenagers are insecure, superficial as hell and obsessed with their appearance. The weight gain is accidental because nobody taught them nutrition -- and it can be a source of serious depression.

Understanding nutrition != anorexic

Understanding nutrition just means grabbing more sensible choices, cardio, avoiding (some, not all) garbage empty calories esp. late night snacking, and knowing how to ballpark calorie intake.

The time to teach is when your kids are younger, not harass them as they enter adulthood.

Rather weird both of these arguments. Nobody thought me about nutrition when I was growing up. In Europe, now 40 something. We ate what grandma and mom cooked, all fresh produce, meat from the farm and yet I knew what was healthy and not. There is something rotten in food culture in the US today.

I never ate the cafeteria food in college. I lived off campus and eat at whole foods everyday. It was cheaper that a cafeteria pass and much much healthier!

And your food probably stayed hot unlike the dining hall. I’d get my hot food, walk to my table and my food would be cold. Hated that.
