Why are American women so frumpy?

All these recent threads about sloppy American women makes me wonder, why are women in the U.S. sloppy and frumpy looking? Why do they wear sweats and no makeup and flip flops?

Because comfort and ease trump my desire to be a decorative object. I'm past the age of desirability, and it feels great not to be subject to the constant male gaze. Now I dress for my myself.

Why the stereotyping? My elementary age kids learned in school that lumping all people together like this is wrong for so many reasons. They said they heard a kid shouted down at camp last week by a bunch of the campers for stereotyping girls (not good at sports or not good at technology, or some such nonsense). Good that you come to an anonymous board to make these ridiculous comments. The public (including kids) are not putting up with this any more!

I found that the women in Europe do dress more feminine (dresses, skirts), but American women are more fit and athletic.
