Changed to what? Provide a clear explanation of what regime means and the distinction between the Iranian regime before and after the strikes.

Doddering Trump doesn't know what's going on and repeats whatever's whispered into his ear.

its very sad- many people on the ground in Iran (I am of Pakistani heritage and ppl move there for uni/business) said that the regime was extremely weakened right before these attacks and on the path to reform. This war ha sonly succeeded in strengthening the regime and making things worse for the pro reform movement. the shah supporters are in a different category bc they dream of the Neo-fuedal state they left behind where the elite had a hyper modern lifestyle funded by extreme exploitation of 90% of the country. They want Iran to be an emirate with a shah but the Irani ppl want democracy. different cultures value different things- the shah Iranians have become more like gulf Arabs in that they value money and wealth- more mainstream Iranian culture values education and trust that well-being will follow.

of course there are internet blackouts etc but ppl in this area of the world are used to using vpns/satelite etc so the news from college kids stuck there is pretty accurate.

I wish we had more of this perspective. I don’t understand how / why we don’t have more news stories on the human impact and focus instead on Iran as a state entity. There are people on the ground. Some of the previous posts highlight how terrible Iran is for putting children in security positions (sure). But it’s our bombs killing those children. We - our taxpayer dollars - are killing people. For what I just don’t understand.

We do not even know what is going on inside Israel. There is a greater chance of regime change there vs Iran.

He made a colossal mistake and achieved nothing. Now we wait for the next president to reopen the strait for us.
I want to believe this will happen, but two things worry me.

On the Iranian side, why do they keep taunting Trump in social media? It seems like they are trying to bait him into staying in the war. Maybe they have an ulterior motive to continue a low simmering war.

On the Trump side, their recent talk about NATO, especially by Rubio, sounds like they are negotiating to ask for use of European bases during the war. This is more than just Trump's usual vindictive threats. Maybe they are setting up support for full scale bombing, not just missiles.

Have you watched the Iranian LEGO videos? At first they made it clear that with no Trump, American ships could pass through the Strait. I think that was clearly a message to us to get our guy: Congress could have impeached him. The latest one had a bunch of American coffins that Trump ascends to declare victory. I think they’re daring Trump, yes, because they know they can kneecap the US because he’s an idiot.

Trump is already insinuating he will withdrawal before the Strait is reopened because he’s dumb and made a massive mess of everything. If he doesn’t in the next day or so, he risks permanently damaging the dollar, if it’s not already too late. Iran understands this.

This was one of his talking points but that changes every day or hour. Sometimes it is about nuclear weapons, sometimes about nuclear enrichment, sometimes missiles, sometimes the strait, etc. None of those things are legit reasons for attacking a country. Trump and Israel do not get to decide what country has what capabilities.

All this does not matter. The US will be forced from the region and that will be very good in the long term. The more serious problem is the US has now become corrupted by the IDF. This is very concerning. The IDF is incompetent, targets civilians, is unable to fight other militaries and is unable to achieve victory. Look at Gaza.

We still have a massive ace we haven't used and Iran must know this already, our bunker buster bombs. My guess on our endgame is to leave two giant craters at the Iranian nuclear enrichment site - fallout, whatever. Knowing that Iran has only one endgame, that's to survive it and rebuild with money from the Hormuz tollway. And make it politically costly for Trump to stay involved. Big question is does Iran still have anti air defenses hidden. I think that's why Rubio wants to launch bombers from Europe.

I’m surprised so many military are going along with this. Can they be tried too? Assume yes.

This is sick. What is the plan for afterward? For all the Iranians who will become sick?

Also, there goes our dollar. Hello China!

Sooo dumb.

It's all incredibly stupid. There are no good guys, but plenty of victims.

I wish the world would focus on the tragedy we could avoid right now in Lebanon. No one can stop what's happening in Iran, but why is the world ignoring that a million people in Lebanon are being kicked out of their homes? And for what, so Israel can have a buffer zone. It's ridiculous and obviously evil. If people just knew what was happening they'd all agree.

Please Jeff - there is someone on here who won't allow any discussions of Lebanon. Don't remove posts that describe Israel aggression in Lebanon during thus war.

He has already backtracked on the Strait opening. In his daily morning post he said that the deal requires the opening of the strait. Otherwise he was going to bring total destruction and send Iran back to the Stone Age. Sigh.

American news rarely report on Lebanon

Several sprawling mansion plots along the thoroughfare more formally known as The Bishops Avenue make up a chunk of the extensive London property holdings funded by Iranian money that Western officials have linked to the country’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

They are nonetheless an illustration of how Iran has been able to move money internationally for years despite Western sanctions aimed at choking off the regime’s ability to do so.

The Middle East war has heightened scrutiny on the global financial networks alleged to fund the Iranian regime’s military, domestic oppression and foreign proxies. It is a web that Western officials say stretches from the United Arab Emirates to Toronto, Hong Kong and Singapore.

The U.S. has highlighted Iranian cash flows it says support arms purchases and bolster the ruling regime. Officials also cite outflows of personal fortunes belonging to connected Iranians, described as the spoils of classic kleptocracy.

Wow, if you think that's bad, how about this?

https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/03/13/donald-trumps-worst-deal

A key investor in this deal...But the Mammadov family, in addition to its reputation for corruption, has a troubling connection that any proper risk assessment should have unearthed: for years, it has been financially entangled with an Iranian family tied to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, the ideologically driven military force. In 2008, the year that the tower was announced, Ziya Mammadov, in his role as Transportation Minister, awarded a series of multimillion-dollar contracts to Azarpassillo, an Iranian construction company. Keyumars Darvishi, its chairman, fought in the Iran-Iraq War. After the war, he became the head of Raman, an Iranian construction firm that is controlled by the Revolutionary Guard. The U.S. government has regularly accused the Guard of criminal activity, including drug trafficking, sponsoring terrorism abroad, and money laundering.

Seems like the Israel press corps is working over time. So glad there is no corruption in the US or Israel. Did anyone tell Bibi and Trump about this? They will be green with jealousy.

So you can’t address the rampant corruption among the IRGC so turn to childish deflection, as usual. Noted. The Iranian regime is a terrorist organization full of greedy thugs who enjoy oppressing their own people while squirreling away their wealth. They’re cowards and scum.

Rumor is the new ayatollah (the son) has a house in London next to the Israeli embassy. If so, I wonder if Iran and Israel are in this together to take down the A’s Americans and Arabs

If that’s the case, then the UK will no doubt seize it as they have been doing with the other corrupt Iranian scumbags.

Is this a joke? What kind of government uses CHILDREN as part of their armed forces, regardless of the circumstances? You can’t simply focus on that and condemn Iran wholeheartedly? They are fanatical murderers who see children as absolutely expendable. They are the lowest of the low.
