Yes all of the above and the fact that NOVA already has 5 other ECNL teams |
It stems from the way it all went down with the DA initially. Bridges burned, perhaps they could be rebuilt, but seems unlikely. FCV has talent, good coaches and a strong player base. They will be fine. The GA will continue to slide with the loss of true quality clubs and it was already on shaky ground, but Bobby markets well and sells himself and whatever club he's at nicely. They should have all taken USYS up on the offer to build a super national league with the remaining DA teams rather than start this Hodge podge of a league with a ton of average (at best) regional level clubs. US Soccer failed to take down the ECNL, for damn sure the scraps joining together were not going t be able to do it. Many have been saying all along there is not a GA club in the system that would not jump on an ECNL offer. It was and still is true. The pecking order of leagues has been clear for years and nothing has changed even if some of the housewives of Loudoun and Fairfax county refuse to believe that their precious Mia is not playing for the best of the best, but rather the best of the rest. |
| FCV wants to turn into a IMG academy via St James. |

3 more clubs to go. Who’s it going to be?
I’m going Tophat, NEFC............. |
TopHat has some of the same history FCV does. Maybe not a deep seated. Who it should be is Dash, SC Wave and TopHat, but again not sure TopHat will get the offer especially since they will want to bring both their teams. Perhaps if they keep their Navy team in the GA. My guess is a couple more clubs that Joined as regional league teams around the country and have had success will also switch to full time members as well. |
Don’t know the other clubs named, but I’m betting on the big dogs. We shall see..... |
Bobby and his attachment financially to the GA. He’ll take FCV down with his greed. |
Springfield and Leesburg ain’t Bradenton. Good luck with that. |
Apparently you don’t understand the amount of Kids in private school. Lots of money around here. And parents love paying. You |
Didn’t the 05’s recently play/lose to Bethesda? |
Played, yes. Lost, no. Won 3-0. |
| RIP FCV |
Not the money, the location. But I guess we’ll see. There is a lot of money here as you say. Where’s the school in all this? Does TSJ have one? |

Travel soccer has changed over the past year due to covid. Noone wants to travel more than a couple hours to play a game. As a result of the changing times, ECNL should allow FCV to play. This enables top Clubs in the area to play many competitive games with little travel. Then clubs can travel for regional and national showcases to play outside of the local area.
It has been great for the GA and ECNL teams to scrimmage each other this past year. This is what local families want. To stay local and play meaningful games. No club has a rockstar team in every age group. The Metro area has enough soccer players where 6 localish clubs could be ECNL members with their top team playing in ECNL. The egos of these club owners is ridiculous. I am tired of the turf wars. Let Arlington and FCV be ECNL members. The better competition should be desired by all local clubs. I know that Arlington is already in ECNL. Now let in FCV too and there will be a great local region for competition that all players and families should welcome. It should be about the kids and playing soccer, not egos. |
Good post but you could replace FCV with a number of clubs that would also want ecnl. Fcv made its bed, burned bridges, poached players from ecnl clubs and now expects sympathy from the clubs and league it’s burned in the past? |
