Perhaps with AOC standing in its path?

You Trump males are so afraid of AOCs magnetic honest appeal to truth and the American way. Why is that? She is a true American success story.

I’m so confused. Earlier the photos of the big crowds were brushed off as photoshopped because there were no big crowds, and it was a failure.

Now that they’re real, it’s no big deal because there are always big crowds, so it’s a failure.

So there were, or maybe were not, bigger crowds than previous years, and either way, it’s a failure?

You nailed it, PP. The “fake” pictures showed a dismal failure; but now that they’re real, the huge crowds still show a dismal failure. Gotta love that liberal “logic”!

Dem here. As stated. July 4 festivities always have crowds.
I could care less how many people are there having gone myself in the past. Families, fireworks, fun.
The oddity: select few invites for GOP donors for Trump. Big deal. The man loves to showboat.
Obama has class and was cool and presidential without the yuge effort for incessant attention is the only point I wish to make.

Exactly. If Trump’s spectacle was non-partisan why did only Republicans get tickets?

Oh, honey. You do realize the vast majority of DCUM posters are female, right? But sure, blame her idiocy on "Trump males."

Got it.

Since when do liberals care about different fathers and *marriage*? What an antiquated concept!

No, the surprise is that the so-called conservatives seem to no longer care. Hyprocrites.

What are hyprocites?

I’m still waiting to see the pics or news coverage that more than a handful of people, and not Republicans with connections, got to see Trump’s tank display in front of the Lincoln Memorial that cost the NPS more than $2 million of revenue it can’t afford to give up.

Still waiting...

The original proposal was for a Bastille Day type parade of tanks. What ended up happening was four vehicles being train and trucked in on flatbed rigs. So, there was no damage.

No, that was never the proposal. Even the Post article linked at the very beginning of this thread quoted the President as saying “we’re going to have some tanks stationed outside.”

The handwringing here about all the damaged streets was another concoction of the looney liberals.

Yes, it was the original proposal. Mattis shut it down and Trump had to be told repeatedly that it wasn't feasible.

They ended up not being in the parade, correct? Just parked in the campaign finance violation VIP section. So they didn’t get the chance to wreck the roads.

+1

Who got to see them up close? Not ordinary Americans. Trump cronies.

One justification I kept seeing was “tanks are fun and kids love them.” But where are are the selfies of people with the tanks? Where are the news photos of crowds around the tanks? So much time and effort to bring props that only a handful of rich and powerful even got to see in person. I haven’t seen a single photo of civilians at the tanks.

My friend said lots of kids were going up, interacting with the military personnel, and having their pictures taken. Also there were information placards.

DCUM promised me no one attended the event, the mall was completely empty, and the few photos that leaked out of huge crowds were fake-news photo-shops.

Nobody would have said the mall was completely empty on the 4th of July. We all know that it is always jam-packed on the4th. That’s why Trump chose that day for his over-compensation party. He could take credit for the crowd that would be there anyway.

Exactly. My issue with this whole spectacle is the money it took from NPS, which is already suffering due to the shutdown. If he had just done a bipartisan speech without spending millions, it wouldn’t have been an issue.
