Ummm no. You are wrong. They had something like 8500 applications for a class of 500. I think the acceptance rate is around 15%? |
Steve Jobs treated her and her mother like scum. I’m actually really glad she got into Harvard. He certainly wouldn’t have helped her get in. He was such an ass. |
Yeah, let's start with churches first. Those behemoths are sitting on billions in land and revenue they snatched up in the 1700s. I will never forget learning about the Houston floods and seeing Joel Osteen (multi-millionaire church pastor because of no taxes) refuse to open up his church to those flooded out. ![]() ![]() |
But but, my transgender Haitian black kid with ADHD and processing issues has PTSD due to trauma so he really really needs some help. Don't be a racist xenophobe antihuman pig, remember how holistic we all holistically are. |
Yes that’s obvious. There’s a whole book about mediocre rich kids that get into college because of their parents’ donor potential, Daniel Golden’s Price of Admission. It has a whole chapter on one Jared Kushner, whose parents donated 2.5 million to Harvard to get the mediocre Jared in. |

*shrug* Billionaires aren't known for their charming personalities. Elon Musk could care less about his five sons and ex-wife. It is what it is. She knew who he was when they married. |
No Tangents!!!!! |
+1. Both for income and for property. |
And notice the shock is more about why they parents didn’t just legally offer big donations. Not concern that the kids couldn’t keep up in the college if the parents lied/committed fraud to get them or faux concern that others would judge the kids as not being qualified because they had wealthy parents that could in theory have made a big donation to the school to get them in. |
The college didn't institute this bribery scandal. It was the personal who lined their pockets and the parents who paid them off. All of the individuals need to go to jail. |
And they all take the ACT. They get almost double the time and it is an easy test. The whole point of that test is that you need to be quick and efficient. If you are giving extra time, it must be on the harder test. My daughter goes to a top 5 private. She is a senior and estimates that 1/3 of the kids are on “accommodations.” Extra hour for every exam. Extra time for tests. No quick quizzes. HW is given one extra day. It is a complete disgrace. Ruins it for the kids that truly need it. When kids are pulling 34-36 - pulease. |
The PR people will be working tons of overtime over the next few weeks. |
PP here. I don’t care about your alleged stats or your opinion. Clearly, you’re upset. Good. Stay mad. |
I can only imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth going on among the College Confidential crowd. |
