41yo better? That way they don’t hit 50 until they have left office! Like Leo DiCaprio who won’t date anyone older than 26. |
“Democrats will hold at least a dozen presidential primary debates starting in June 2019 and running through April 2020, with party Chairman Tom Perez promising rules that will give everyone in a potentially large field a fair shot at voters’ attention.
Making public his first in a series of decisions over the 2020 debate calendar, Perez said Thursday that the national party will sponsor six debates in 2019 and six more in 2020. That could be extended if the nomination process drags deep into the spring.” https://apnews.com/43e1a333ef5e44028c72d93af4075730?utm_medium=AP_Politics&utm_source=Twitter&utm_campaign=SocialFlow |
“Out of touch” isn’t an age related definition. For example, I’m 36 and I was born out of touch. I’m that person who is persistently out of step, not to be obstreperous, but just because I seem to miss the boat. And let’s further parse “out of touch.” With whom? What kind of “touch” is needed? Do they/would they listen to their constituents? Do they have an actual grasp on issues? Are they non-criminal? Are they calm and measured? If the best candidate is in their 60s, I’m fine with that. Trump’s age isn’t the problem -his criminal nature, laziness and low energy, drug use, treason and dementia are. |
Breakdown by race of Dem/indie voters in USA Today/Suffolk poll on excitement level for various '20 contenders (+Hillary):
|
I like Joe Biden but he’s ran for president like 4 times and no one has been “excited” by him and now he’s a near octogenarian. I read that these polls are picking up name recognition more than anything. |
Looking good for Beto. He has the sales skills to bring the country back to Obama level governance. |
Beto has a BA from Columbia. He was a nanny after graduation, then he moved art.
I wish we required all presidential candidates to have an advanced degree---preferably a JD. Understanding the constitution and respecting the rule of law are critically important skills for those who hold the highest political office IMHO. As Trump has demonstrated, a wealthy businessman isn't a good fit (too many conflicts of interest; America isn't a corporation). And let's aim higher than just a "good talker." Yes, we need someone articulate and dynamic. But we really need a career public servant who understands the politics of Washington...without having sold out. I'm hoping more candidates emerge than those included on that short list. |
LOL. No. Lincoln had no formal education. GW Bush II had an MBA from Harvard. Having an advanced degree is not equivalent to respecting the rule of law, as anyone in the military could tell you. |
Having a JD typically demonstrates respect of the rule of law (or at the very least an understanding of the constitution and the rule of law). Again: MBAs aren't very helpful IMHO since the USA is not a for-profit corporation. |
Booker, Harris, Warren, and Klobuchar have JDs.
Beto has a bachelors and a DWI. |
|
Cohen and Manafort have law degrees too. Lots of respect for the rule of law there. |
I agree that conservatives aren't as ethical as democrats. Thanks! |
Tom Steyer went to Iowa today then announced he is NOT running. |
