Which Dem can win general election in 2020?

Ronald McDonald, Mickey Mouse, Elmo, anyone.

Looking good for Beto. He has the sales skills to bring the country back to Obama level governance.

Yes. Because all Americans want to see a live streaming of Beto's dental visit.

Tossup column includes Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, of course. But also - ARIZONA.

3 white Male insiders.

And somehow that's the best to win over a white Male outsider?

Donald Trump is the President of the United States -- he is no longer an "outsider" by any definition.

PP who advocated for Sanders / Gabbard and this would be a good option as well. Sherrod Brown and Amy Klobuchar are good people and Brown would carry Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania no problem.

But we can't have another Middle-of-nowhere candidate. That's how we always lose.

We need someone from California or NYC. How f#cking cares about the rest of the f%cking country.

I'm going to assume your meds have kicked in by now.

At the moment, Brown/Klobuchar is my favorite option because we need midwest sensibility. Warren, Harris, Sanders are all too "shrill" to use the favored disparagement from 2016.

Most recent Marist poll - only asks Democrats who had an opinion of each of the candidates.

It's gonna be one-term Joe with Harris as his VP. You can take it to the bank.

It's amazing the number of well-off butt-hurt white guys I've talked to who lean libertarian but hate DJT. They've all been telling me they would be happy to vote for Joe. These are the same guys who whine about "identity politics," as if it is a real issue. Yeah, they are pretty obtuse and emotionally shallow.

Anyways, I think Joe is the best to unite various factions who don't like Trump. You'll peel off a big segment of the white working class, along with well-to-do white guys that wear polo shirts and play golf. These guys won't vote for someone like Booker or Warren; they'd rather sit out the election.

Joe's VP candidate will need to be an olive branch to the passionate left; he won't repeat Hillary's big mistake of ignoring them. I see him picking Harris, but he could go with Warren. Joe will need to get URM's voting at 2008 and 2012 levels, so that leaves me preferring Harris.

Someone who better have their smirk locked down with botox, xeomycin or dysport.

white bros are not going to get the chance to vote for joe biden because the former don't vote in dem primaries. Joe isn't getting through a dem primary.

He's not liberal enough for liberal whites (in the primary phase, whites in the dem party, esp northern whites are quite liberal) in places like Iowa & NH, and he has no path against harris and booker in the south.

If he ran, he would last until super tuesday, then drop out and endorse one of harris or booker.

whites who aren't dems but want to vote for joe won't get the chance to do so in the general because the primary electorate will weed him out.

Any candidate with a functioning brain would be more impressive than our current POTUS.

You’re not accounting for the fact that there will be a massive influx of Democratic voter registrations. People who are currently independent will know that this is their only opportunity to choose who runs against DJT. More states are moving toward the open primary format. Further, with the GOP canceling the primaries, even dissatisfied Republicans who may like Kasich or Romney, may end up registering as a Dem to have a voice in the primary process.

2020 will not be a normal election.

Anyone who campaigns using a nickname “Beto” because he used to have a few Hispanic friends in high school, skateboards onstage to make a speech like a “cool Dad,” and livestreams a dental procedure is a certified poseur and a tool. This might fly with the UMC dorky Vox crowd, but he will be kicked to the curb in places like Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan where you need blue collar support to win an election.

Urban UMC white professionals and minorities will vote for anyone who isn’t Trump, those votes are already sewn up. What Dems need is a candidate who will win back places that they never had no business losing, like Michigan. If you’re going to go with someone who just lost a race, I’d pick Richard Ojeda all day over Beto. That guy is a real fighter who will go toe to toe with Trump and won’t back down and does not come off like a fake, B-grade Bobby Kennedy wannabe.

Other than that it’s Sherrod Brown or Tulsi Gabbard, who can both authentically appeal to working class voters in the Rust Belt.
