The White Lotus season 2

Did anyone else get the vibe that Cameron is having money issues? Not having the money to pay the hooker, not wanting Daphne to go shopping, trying to get Ethan to invest, being so upset when his luggage was lost. My theory is that Daphne finds out, and that along with Cameron cheating with Harper, is the final straw and she decides to murder him for the life insurance.

Maybe, but he also booked jet skis and went replacement clothes shopping in the hotel gift show (overpriced!) and a wine tasting etc so wouldn't he be thriftier? Or is he just dumb?

NP, but I think he's just dumb. I think a theme of this season is broke rich people keeping up appearances and what they do to get back to the lifestyle they can't afford anymore. The gay con artists trying to woo Tanya, Cam trying to woo Ethan (into investing). Contrast that with Ethan and Harper who are new to the lifestyle, the escorts that are on the periphery of that lifestyle (2k euro for a night is a lot of money!), the Gen Z kids who are along for the ride in their own ways, and of course Tanya who is the only one not trying to prove anything. I think we'll see the smoke and mirrors come crashing down and we'll see who snaps when it does - Daphne, Tanya, someone else?

I was thinking life insurance as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's been stealing from clients/running an unsophisticated Ponzi of some kind. It's very consistent with his character (super entitled). Maybe he's able to throw everything on the hotel room bill and he doesn't plan to pay it (or maybe thinks he will get Ethan's investment and will use that money to pay it) but the cash is a different story.

It could also just be that not bothering to get the cash is a sign of his disrespect/lack of empathy towards Lucia.

What was the "one time" that Daphne was talking about when she said Cameron cheated on her or something similar? It sounded like she got her revenge for that. Is her revenge her kids? Or is it maybe this trip?

I also kind of wonder if maybe Daphne and Cameron do love one another a lot and maybe set up this whole trip for Ethan or Harper to be responsible for killing Cameron, so Daphne will blackmail Ethan/Harper into subsidizing her and the kids for the rest of their lives. That could be why she is so blase about what Cameron was up to when she was in Noho. But it seems like there would be more sadness to them if they were both in on it, so probably not.

I could see that. I don't think Daphne would kill him out of anger/jealousy, bc she seems to truly love him and she already knows about the cheating and has been willing to tolerate it (and love him in spite of it). But if she found out that her lifestyle and the lifestyle she wants to provide for her kids is jeopardy, that might be a different story.

There is tons to suggest that he is having money issues - the references to the workplace lawsuits, how mad he was at Ethan for not sharing that his company was about to be bought so he could insider-trade on the info, the request to manage Ethan's money. He has the sense of entitlement that often goes with stealing money from your clients and business to fund your lifestyle. Maybe it's catching up with him now.

I was wondering if that was all on credit cards and maybe any cash advances are maxed out, so he couldn’t pay the girls. Or maybe since Dom doesn’t seem to have a clue how much Lucia and Mia are charging to his room, maybe Cameron asked for adjoining rooms so Ethan and Harper could be charged for everything and wouldn’t find out until whatever financial scheme he is plotting goes through.

Do they make a specific story for it like "you don't actually sleep with your trainer, but you have one, and you wanted to sleep with him but couldn't bring yourself to do it, and you show your kids because you're trying to get harper to not sleep with your hubby"

or is it more vague like "daphne tells this story but acts it in a way that implies its not quite true and shows a pic of her kids to remind viewers she has a family and things aren't care free"

(those are both made up obviously...just examples of levels they could be thinking it through)

No idea but I would love one of the cast members to answer this so we would know!

Any possibility one of these deaths is suicide?

I think Daphne showing the pictures of her kids to Harper only makes sense if it's a little bit of a threat, in a way. Daphne knows full well she isn't showing Harper a picture of her trainer. I think Daphne might reminding Harper what she lives for and has to lose. I think she is maybe warning Harper away from Cameron, warning her that she will do whatever she needs to do, because she has kids and will do whatever it takes to protect them. Like, for her own good? Because if she doesn't stay away, she will get tangled up in everything and it will be her own fault?

I think she has the inner reserve necessary to kill someone if she thinks she needs to. I don't see how killing Ethan or Harper would benefit her, so I guess I think she might kill her husband?

I need to rewatch but I don’t think Cam dies.

My money’s on Grandpa, Greg, and a gay guy to die.

No - if you re-watch that scene, there's a guy to the right of the two women Daphne talks to - he's dark haired, wearing sunglasses, and has a short beard, in swim trunks. When she starts running out of the water - look in the background. You see him get up from his chair. I am almost 100% sure it's him that catches her on the beach. Then the camera kind of moves through the crowd. I didn't see any of the known cast in the crowd.

Interesting in that, so far, that is the only time she is alone. She is always with her husband or Harper.

Yes. That whole scene is interesting. She's there with her huge bag and her aperol, vacant chair next to her as if she's expecting her husband and then she makes this weird little speech, which is out introduction into her character. It's all a little "off," IMO.

I think she's the mastermind and poisons him and/or lets him drown. Almost every scene she has, she references killing - even this one she says that they will have to drag you out of here. It would be quite the Survivor twist if seemingly the least intelligent member of the group ends up "winning it all".

If you consider offing your husband to be "winning it all," well...that certainly says something about you. Or your marriage. Or both.

If you look up the clothes the characters are wearing, it actually matches the lifestyles they are trying to portray in the show.

The clothes worn by Daphne and Cameron are high-end designer clothes that retail for $500-2000. They wear expensive labels.

The dresses and clothes worn by Harper have all been in the $100-400 range. Nice stuff, but nothing outrageous. That's what we would expect from a practical, professional lawyer. Ethan has been wearing t-shirts most of the time. They are not dressing in a manner that reflects their wealth.

Meanwhile, Portia's clothes have all been cheap. Most of her clothes retail for $20-150. She's a broke Gen Z and her clothes reflect it.

Lucia told Albie 2k euro and later told Cameron he owes her 1300. I only noticed because I had on CC on.
