They absolutely don't. And honestly Andrew was a major scandal but reverence for his mother allowed that to be ignored. Now with the cost of living crisis and winter literally coming... I'll give the UK papers credit though, they have stood in formation. Somehow not one story on the largest transfer of wealth in nearly 75 years in that country, tax-free, and not a peep. |
| I think the Belgian Queen abruptly taking the title’s away from her youngest son’s kids in an attempt to modernize might have the opposite effect. It’s just such a stark reminder of how archaic and the monarchy is and reminding people of primogeniture and capricious monarchs doesn’t seem like a good way to “future proof” the monarchy! |

Tour a couple of years ago and was told the population of NI is highly employed (65%) by the British government. I think NI is happy to be part of NI ad Republic of Ireland is happy to be left alone. |

****New question or mini thread.
Wouldn’t it be possible to have a * £0 coronation? *Security would be the only absolutely necessary item. That could cost a lot. I’m not denying the need or saying that it is very little. But for everything else, couldn’t it cost 0? What line items cost something? Refurbishing coats and crowns Banquets Invitations Decoration such as wreaths and flowers Carpet cleaning If you bring those costs down (digital invitations, no banquet).. couldn’t it be done? |
| India is demanding the Kohinoor diamond back LOL. |
