Well, I’m pissed FCPS thinks this is okay for teachers, but not HS kids who have had access to the vaccine since spring. |
As someone else pointed out, this was administrators and front office staff. It's possible they don't think it's OK for teachers. Rules for thee and not for me, regardless of whether you think the rules are too strict or just right. |
+1. Heck, I’m still pissed about that. My kid is taking 5 APss next year. It would be nice if the teachers had the freedom to pace the class without being restricted at Threvassa. A lot of those holidays are in the spring as APs wind up. |
Nothing says “strongly encouraged” like pictures of Administrators crowded together without masks. Shouldn’t the “leaders” be setting the example? |
Did all regions have them mask-less? Did all regions have idiot school board members tweet out pics of the mask-less meetings? It's not about having the meetings, it's not even about having the meetings mask-less. It's about people setting policy and then turning around and blatantly ignoring the same policy themselves, with no thought given as to why those actions would upset the people they are supposed to be representing. Either you believe these polices prevent the spread of COVID and you follow them, or you don't. And if you don't then why the F are you setting these mandates? "Let them eat cake" "Let them wear masks" - LJC / Region 4 FCPS admins |
So much this. Some of the SB members have about average intelligence, but not a lot of common sense. She and Fritsch are just dim bulbs. |
Thanks. I have anxiety issues too. So, I knew. But, I had to stare DH down to make it happen. And he is a really collaborative partner and empathetic parent, not an overbearing jerk. And we rarely butt heads on parenting. And his mindset was: she’s had a terrible year. Why add this stress on top of it for just a couple month. But, I knew we couldn’t just drop this particular kid in front of a school building in August and expect it to go well. She did a summer enrichment program in an FCPS school. So now, she’s fine with school starting because she’s used to it again. I do agree that school is emotionally draining for her. She was coming home just wiped out at first. I was glad they had asynchronous Monday’s, because she wasn’t in a great place to do homework. |
Now she’s trying to side with the open side and gain confidence back. |
Drive around and find it. It’s in the South County area. |

One of the fake name people who hangs out on every FB post about school reopenings was like “I can’t homeschool my kid! What am I supposed to do??” Umm lady. You clearly spend all day on the Interwebs trolling about kids and schools and Covid. You should know by now that everything comes in waves with Covid and this wave will recede, just as all the other ones have. You had all summer to research homeschooling!

I am not a fan of administrators. |
I think they are pretty intelligent, but in an academic sense only. |
No. Intelligent in the academic sense only is like Melanie Maren. advanced degrees. Educational policy wonk. No common sense. Cohen and Fritsch just aren’t very smart. |

Cases among children concerning since they aren't even back to school yet:
