Political Discussion
And Phillips stepped in to diffuse the situation between them and the kids from Kentucky. The kids response is what we see, and it doesn't reflect well on them. |
Yeah, you have it wrong. Try to educate yourself before you post next time. |
It's the MAGA boogeyman. The irony is that by doing that, they give the media exactly the power they take so much issue with. |
You are literally telling me my eyes were wrong. GTFO. |
You lost me with that first line. If those boys were such deep believers in the idea of the sanctity of life, you'd think they'd be a little more sober and serious after marching against something they think is destroying that life on a mass basis year after year. Shouldn't that be weighing heavily on their minds? Of course not, they're teens who went along on a field trip and they don't care what the topic is, they're just glad they're out of school. Do you think those boys are going to hold off having sex so as to prevent unwanted pregnancies that women might decide to abort? Those boys were almost 100% required to go on the trip, they didn't go because they truly in their heart of hearts are so upset about pregnant women and girls ending their pregnancies. If those boys could not represent their faith through their comportment, then they obviously were not ready to be brought to the rally. Catholic schools say they teach and instill values and one of the greatest of those is love and charity and the belief in the dignity of all life from birth to death. That is one of the reasons they like to claim they are superior to public education. Obviously that school has failed. Especially as none of the boys seems to have issued any apologies for acting like they did at a national memorial. And their chaperone needs serious disciplining. |
An excerpted video was presented showing only that moment of the story, without the context that told a completely different story. The news reports also did not make clear what had happened. The original Washington Post article I read said:
I had sympathy for Mr. Phillips after reading this. Teens "swarmed around him" as he was preparing to leave the march. Teens were disparaging the other native americans. BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT HAPPENED AT ALL. He walked RIGHT INTO the boys. The boys were in an argument with some men who were taunting THEM and had been for some time. |
| The smirk + the hat say it all. The Smirk Seen Round the World. |
No, you and your MAGA brethren would be here defending him and calling the teens thugs. |
Yes, you're right. MAGA hats are symbols of hatred. |
You admit you read none of the media stories, so how do you have any standing to judge whether the story was reported correctly? |

For those who "don't have time to watch more video," here's a 3.5 minute CNN report that nicely summarizes what happened. I think it really fair reporting and is not the typical liberal slant you get from that website. https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/21/us/maga-hat-teens-native-american-second-video/index.html'

I am saying that it doesn't matter what the media reported. Facts are facts, and they are on video. |
I don't need CNN to summarize what happened for me to make up my mind. They were a bunch of disrespectful kids. |
You are a joke. There is nothing to exonerate that boy staring down an elderly man. He chose to do it, his friends and the adults there chose to watch it and encourage it, and you can tell your boner from reading about potential lawsuits over this to stand down: this boy and his parents have no hope of even a nuisance settlement. He thought he could act grown, but he chose poorly. |
