You sound like a number of my friends who are federal workers. They are literally giddy with excitement for a shutdown. Keep telling everyone "we get a paid vacation!" I don't say a word but I am seeing them in a different light.

Poor babies. At least you'll get paid after the fact.

- Contractor who gets to keep working through your shutdown. Further proof that we do all the real work.

Too bad your company sh*ts on you. I know it makes you feel better to sh*t on federal workers like our politicians.

You can be a Fed but you’re greedy and don’t care about public service. 🤷‍♀️

I’m a federal executive who will work around the clock for delayed pay if we have a shutdown while our customers go without, my employees who are rooting for this infuriate me as well. Agree it’s tone deaf.

Fed here who is not happy about all the work that will pile up for me (on top of a huge pile that has already piled up because of an unfilled position in department) and concerned about all the feds who are living from paycheck to paycheck and can't afford not to get paid. Some of them are my colleagues and no, I am not giddy about having a "paid vacation" especially knowing how hard it will be for many to pay their rent/mortgage/student loan bills.

You're calling our military ignorant? And air traffic controllers? And National Park Rangers? And those who inspect the safety of meat and water, etc.?

The work will be waiting when we return. And then some. Not looking forward to it. I hope the GOP clowns get their act together.

Yeah, this is what I don’t get regarding the people rooting for a shutdown. It sucks on the backside.

still allowed?

If the cruise goes into international waters and you get called back, you’re sol.

Actually I telework 80% of days. If called back, which I doubt in the first 2-3 weeks, I'll call in sick when needed. What are going to do about it. Lol.

I assume PP was saying you can't telework from outside the US. Most of us can't, and can't bring our laptops overseas. Don't know your agency policy, of course.

There won’t be a shutdown. Sorry to the folks who kept dreaming it would happen.

From what I am reading, GOP moderates will save the day.

I don’t know what your friends do, but they’re lucky. In my role, and my few close friends who are feds, we’re all either exempt (so work with delayed pay) or the queue of work increases in our absence and we have to put in unpaid overtime when the shutdown ends (this is my situation and it sucks). Good for your friends, but lots of us aren’t happy about this at all.
