Teacher shot at Newport News elementary school

She is correct. The parent is the first person but the administrators who literally ignored multiple warnings THAT DAY that he had a gun also need to be indicted.

Criminal and civil. Absolutely nuts that they let a 6 year old with known behavioral problems walk around school with a gun. Both the parents and the school administrators need to go to prison for a long time.

Yes. Wonder how the administrator's union will handle this one.....or, Weingarten's group, they are likely members. Are they going to defend them?

Good!

I hope they don’t hide her identity and paster her face all over.

Her name is listed in multiple articles.

Right but no pictures… at least not yet.

Why do you need pictures? Do you live in Newport News and think you might run in to her at the supermarket or something?

Why do you care?

Because you posting in disappointment that there are not pictures of this woman is disturbing. Why do you need her photograph?

Why does someone who's so criminally negligent deserve privacy for what they look like?

So again, Do you live in Newport News and think you might run in to her at the supermarket or something? Are you hoping to find her and speak with her?

I’m curious why you keep defending the mom. Pictures of the administrators were showing on national TV so I’m waiting to see the picture of this mom too. I don’t have to live in Newport News, or on a broader scale, in whatever newsworthy city a crime is committed, to see their pictures.

DP. It's not nuts. Kids bring guns to school, it happens often enough. Sometimes by mistake, sometimes as a threat. That's much more common than a 6 year old using a gun at school.

As abortion becomes further restricted, we can expect more kids with severe behavioral problems and way more neglectful parents.

And they should all be dumped off at the doorsteps of the churches that have asked for this.

Don't assume Mom and Dad live in the same household.

I’m curious why it’s so important that you are disappointed in not seeing a picture. It’s weird to be disappointed and weird to fixate. You don’t live in Newport News. Are you hoping to find her and speak with her? Her name is printed.

But the administrators were told several times that this problem six year old had a gun. And they did nothing and a teacher got shot. As for the parents, f- them for leaving an unsecured gun around. Prison for all of them. And if a union supports these horrible school administrators, well, is it any wonder there's no support for public unions anymore. This situation is horrible but totally preventable and the responsible adults need to be held to account so it doesn't happen again - both the reckless parents and the breathtakingly incompetent administrators

Agree. But, don't be shocked. That was always the union carrot to get you to join--"they will protect you if you are sued." I have not seen anything at this level defended, but I have seen terrible teachers defended by the union against firing. Why do you think NYC has teachers being paid for not working?

Fixate on not caring about a picture bc a name is enough?

I know this sounds like I’m not being sincere, but I’m genuinely curious. Do you think just a name is sufficient when any person is charged in any case throughout the United States, and in all circumstances?

Federal law makes that more difficult than it had been in the past.
