You should research former Senator Richard Russell (D-Georgia) and his legacy.

The Russell Senate Office Building is STILL named after him.

Anytime you want to ACT, feel free.

Yes, I’m sure all the Republicans - which you know Russell, protestor of the Civil Rights Act, would be one of nowadays had he not died in ‘71 - would absolutely not lose their bricks over CaNcEl CuLtUrE.

That’s just…. Amazing

But he buried the lede which is that this came from the state Department of Education, illustrating perfectly (regardless of its political valence) the problem with calling our current K-12 educational establishment “the experts”

I think actually it just proves the point that perhaps everyone at the state level in Florida is a wee bit compromised.

+1 meanwhile teachers and librarians who have worked with kids for decades have to throw away their books.

It’s shocking to me how stupidly wrong the right wingers are on this one and know it and keep trying to invent excuses for it. It’s this group’s fault. You do it too. It’s not real you’re just exaggerating.

They know. They know they’re fascist.

“The disturbing trend of school play cancellations due to LGBTQ+ themes continues. Indiana's Carroll High School canceled a planned production of Adam Szymkowicz's Marian, or The True Tale of Robin Hood following two days of auditions, citing "safety concerns for the students involved." According to a petition being circulated demanding the production's reinstatement, the real issue was parent complaints over the work's gay and non-binary characters.”

Next up: anything feminist, anything that talks about the fact that Black and minority people built this country, Black History, Asian History, Native history - really any group that was long neglected in the history books and has had a month dedicated to redress.

Republicans have got to be the most gullible fools in the world. Fascists every one of them at this point.

A lot of the books DeSantis wants to remove from the schools are flat out pornography and not age appropriate in the public school systems.

That includes the Bible. Definitely pornographic, violent, and not-age appropriate.

Ok, RWNJ.

The local news had to interrupt their feed during the presser when DeSantis began showing some of the books that had been removed from SCHOOL libraries.

They had to cut the feed because the books were too vulgar to show on TV.

That tells you everything you need to know.
