| In January, I weighed 208 and now I weigh 189. I am sort of discouraged that I’ve lost 19lbs, but I can’t really tell at all. |
| Do your clothes feel differently? |
| Not really. One or two things feel a little more lose around the waist, but I am nowhere close to needing a smaller size. |
| I was 200 when I started losing weight. People started noticing at around 170. Keep doing what you're doing. You didn't gain the weight over night and it takes a while to lose it too. |
| I notice 10 pounds up and down easily. Big difference between 170 and 180. All my fat is around my waist. |
Same, and although I'm an hourglass, I can feel my pants fitting looser and can even tell naked in the mirror. My waist just looks leaner about 8-10 lbs down. |
| I’m in the 260 range and 5’10”. It takes a 40 pound difference to really notice a change. |
| The heavier you are, the more time it takes to lose sizes. At least this has been my experience. I lost 30 pounds and went from a 16 to a 14. Which I am happy about but 30 pounds is a lot. |
Depends how you carry it. I lost 40 and went from a 12-14 to a 6-8. If you carry weight in your midsection (and have proportionately thinner arms/legs), you may lose sizes more slowly. |

I recently learned that my mother, who pays a LOT of attention to weight, had no idea that I had lost 9 lbs, gained 17, then lost 9 (she is not a good enough liar to just be being polite--she really didn't notice). And I was at a normal BMI to start.
OP, even if you don't notice, you are presumably eating healthier and exercising more. These things are good for your body independent of whether or how much they change your weight. So congratulations! |

I feel better (fitter, less winded, stronger) before I see a change. But I see a change before anyone else notices, probably at 15 lbs?
It's hard to be sure what/when people notice though because as a big person everyone's standard greeting is "have you lost weight?" It's like the talking to your fat friend version of "you look great!" I've had people lead off with "have you lost weight" when I had, in fact, gained weight. |

People noticed when I went from 220 to 205. Mostly in my face. But I was still wearing the same sized clothing.
Now after another pregnancy I started at 225....down to 219 so far. Hope to leave the 200s behind forever. |
first of all, congratulations - and that goes to everyone here who is also losing (or has lost) weight. so what are you doing? I started getting back in shape at the end of Oct. 2017 - started at 204 and am down to 193. I am doing a mix or HIIT cardio and weights. So while I haven't "lost" as much weight as I had hoped, I do know that I've added muscle. My clothes definitely fit differently and I've lost an inch off my waist, but I'm not sure it's truly noticeable. I'm 5'11" and my goal is to get to 175-180 lbs (and 34 or smaller inch waist) and I'm having a really tough time breaking the 190 lbs barrier. |
Thanks. I have been eating better, drinking lots of water and exercising. And yes, I feel better so that's one good thing even if I can't really "see" a lot of changes yet. |
So I'm 10 lbs heavier than you and I'm up two clothing sizes from my lowest weight of 180. At 5'8 I notice weightloss in my body when none of it's water weight. I can lose 10lbs of weight within days if I wanted because of it. If I've lost thirty pounds, I only consider having lost twenty pounds, given my ten pounds of fluctuating weight. |
