Taking friend to Costco

Any tips on making the checkout transaction as smooth as possible? Do they generate two receipts?

Is your friend not a costco member?

They won't accept your friend's check bc shopping at costco is a paid/member privilege.

Just have your friend reimburse you. You'll be in for a bigger rebate at the end if the year.

I often go alone, but have two separate receipts... one for work and one for personal.

Have your friend put their stuff on the belt first, then a divider, then yours. Your friend hands cashier your Costco card.** Your friend pays (Visa card). Then you hand your card to cashier.

**if cashier says hey, this isn’t your card, then at this point you say you are together. If cashier is not ok then worst case, you pay for everything on your card and your friend writes you a check. You can ask cashier to hit subtotal between friend’s stuff and yours.

Just have them subtotal it after your friends items are rung up and then have your friend reimburse you outside of the store. No sense in trying to do this in front of the cashier and flaunting the fact that you're blatantly disregarding their policies.

Just have your friend put their items separately on the belt and tell the cashier you would like two receipts. And unless you are paying for your friend they will need cash. I see this all the time at the Wheaton store.

I think it is A-Ok to let your friend use your membership card and pay separately. I very often buy stuff for my kids school and our office celebrations from Costco and I get reimbursed for that. It is the exact same thing.

They accept any Visa.

It’s not even close to the same thing. Your family is going to benefit from those purchases. OP’s friend is mooching and too cheap to buy her own membership. OP isn’t picking up a few things and getting reimbursement. She is full on taking her friend TO Costco to shop with her membership privileges. You’re an idiot

That's not really the same thing as a friend stocking up on personal items and groceries. If everyone thought as you did, there'd be no need for the majority of Costco memberships. They'd all be "cheating."
