I like your list, but am not crazy about Robert White. He's just a dud and I see his lack of life experience.

I would put Grey and Phil closer to the top. We need some adults in the room where the budget and details around the budget are concerned. They are both terrific for that. Grey was probably the best Chair this city has had.

I am quoting myself, but I agree with the assessment of lack of vision for Phil, but as Chair, that isn't necessarily his job.

They are completely useless. Zeroes across the board.

McDuffie proposed that hokie pay the criminals (with our money) scheme. he is forever out. Cheh does not do a thing for her actual constituents in ward 3.

I'll give you my top 3 and bottom 3:

TOP: Grey (effective, mature), Mendelson (gets stuff done), Cheh (good oversight)

WORST 3: Nadeau (complete nothing-burger), Grosso (in over his head) , Todd (lightweight)

I wouldn't put Cheh in the personally corrupt category (although there are some questionable regulatory favors that she's done for developers). However, her problem is that she thinks she knows better than anyone else (but doesn't). Once she makes her mind up, she seldom listens to other opinions. The result is diktat-type decisions that are not well thought-through (homeless shelter without considering police needs, shoe-horning public pool into a sub-optimal location), which leaves DC agencies struggling to fix them.

Agree on Mendelson. DC is lucky to have him. While he has progressive inclinations, he's definitely a moderating, practical force on the council.

It's clear that some DC Council members don't have the slightest idea of basic market economics.

Just like Iowa politicians court the farm bloc, McDuffie is trying to inherit the late mayor-for-life's base.... the cell block!

I used to think much less of Mendelson when he was at-large because of his tissue-soft thoughts on crime, but I like him more as chair: He has been good at standing up to Bowser's attempts to more or less give away the farm to her campaign-donor cronies. It's a good role for him.

Grosso would rather turn DC into a social laboratory than actually accomplish anything. He needs to go. He's been an embarrassment with the recent DCPS stuff.

Nadeau simply isn't very bright.

Todd is there to do Bowser's bidding and makes no attempt to hide this fact.

Like others have said, Cheh thinks she's the smartest person in the room at all times, which is obnoxious. But no one is stepping forward to run against her, as far as I know. She's (mostly) responsive to her constituents.

Why do we keep having to respond to these posts.

Hearst is not a sub-optimal location for a pool and the pool is not being "shoehorned" in here any more than it is at any other site in DC.

And the police needs are being taken care of WRT to the shelter but so what if they are un-happy -they are public employees and if DC as a better use for their parking lot then they need to be flexible.

And I also disagree that Cheh doesn't listen - in fact the opposite is the case in that she listens to much. If she had put her foot down the Hearst pool would have opened a couple of years ago instead she is humoring the nutjob neighbors.

Same thing with the ridiculous debate about the Cleveland Park service lane.

I've dealt with Mendelson directly a few times and don't think he is very bright either.

He seems to mistake articulating his thought process with having an actual thought process.

And he is very into big last minute behind closed doors Council maneuvering - remember the big tax cut two summers ago that was never discussed in the Council and absolutely no one was expecting and was announced and immediately voted on.

Mendo reminds me of the Chance, the main character from Being There. A mediocre ANC commissioner who has somehow bluffed his way to the top and still thinks it is 1986.

Todd is easily the most ineffectual councilmember. He should be at the top of the list.
