That is not what the legislation was. It was modeled after a very successful program in Richmond, CA. It's so popular that This American Life did a story on it. Educate yourself.

I read a ton about it at the time and give it a thumbs down. But thanks for playing.

Nadeau's use of her baby as a prop illustrates her lack of accomplishments on the council. Look, we get it, you had a baby. Newsflash: Sister you're not the first. She acts like she invented motherhood. Luckily you have a part time job that pays you $140K/year and allows you to bring your child most everywhere with you. Great. Point taken.

Oh, I understand why she does it. She hasn't done anything else.

Ok, so what's your solution. Locking them up is not a deterrent.

Most painful Twitter post ever:

Embarrassing that she considers this her job...

Nadeau worked in P/R and obviously understands the value of a picture but still.....

I'm not sure there is a quick fast sokution. I'm all for all the things that make sense like programs to support releasees and avert recidivism. I'm not about just handing them a stipend to not commit a crime. I think that's a terrible precedent just like when Rhee wanted to pay kids for As abfew years back.

agreed OP. but I rank Evans better, sure he is in the developers back pocket but totally predictable and brings some free market balance to the insanely liberal council. Nadeau is useless, her response to everything is another community meeting and no action. Grosso too liberal.
cheh is a major disappointment.

yep. Just was in a community meeting with her wednesday to discuss a major shooting during a basketball tournament and her answer was "we have a new office on engagment, Im so exicited about it"--keep in mind someone unloaded 51 rounds from an AR-15 in the middle of a tournament on a playground last August. yeah the new office of whatever will help.

Evans is not free market at all. He is statist and corporatist. He does everything in his power to make the government work for the benefit of corporations.

Crony capitalism is Evans' philosophy.

We have an Independent candidate running in Ward 1 Greg Boyd. Former DC teacher, former Marine. His twitter page is great. Basically dismantles Nadeau tweet by Tweet. #boyd4ward1dc

Can we get someone like him to replace Cheh? Pretty please with a cherry in top?

Also Kent Boese who has done more for constituent services than any other Ward 1 ANC commissioner.

Boyd had an opinion piece on the op-ed page of the Post Saturday that addressed the shortcomings of the recent legislation providing for public funding of DC elections. Said that without term limits and ban on 2nd jobs (didn't know council members could have 2nd jobs) it did little to stop corruption in DC.
