Prep 11, Bullis 10

Three very tight games. STA gets their first IAC win of the season. Prep makes a great comeback win.

If your son plays lacrosse and you are looking for a moderately priced private school, I highly recommend Christchurch school. It is a hidden gem. Yes, it is a boarding school, but the NOVA kids come home almost every weekend. The teachers are outstanding, The community is wonderful, and there is an appreciation and acceptance of the male personality at this co-ed school. Christchurch gives some financial aid so you may find yourself paying less than a DC private. The school is also genuinely diverse. Finally, the college list is strong. What is not to like? Okay the dorms aren't the best, but the campus along the river is stunning. It is so beautiful. It is relaxing to visit - even when visiting your own teenager!

How can you say Prep's 2019 class hasn't won anything?

I think the PP is eluding to the fact that the current GP senior class has never won an IAC championship in lacrosse.

Prep 5-0 IAC Champs- strong lax performance down the stretch tonight...most Prep seniors also played football/hockey so this is 2nd title for them this year

I thought the championships were awarded after playoffs??

Nice choke job by Bullis, at home no less. Tournament should be fun with all this parity.

Really good game tonight by both teams. Offensive runs by both teams and plenty of great defensive plays. I’d say difference was goalie play in the end. Sophomore goalie for Bullis has played well in 2 games I’ve seen this year, but tonight he let in a couple softies, including first goal of game. Prep’s size/age advantage also played role. One question-based on how they celebrated, assuming that was first win over Bullis in awhile??

Hope they meet again, will be great to watch these kids battle it out for the IAC title.

MD prepares the boys well for high school, college and much more thereafter. These boys are at the top of the Deans List of Prep, Gonzaga, SJCHS and public school - there were several that graduated from Churchill years ago. I have seen MD boys shake hands with adults, acknowledge with eye contact, etc. MD would not compete with a school like Sidwell. The student bodies are just different and it doesn't make sense to make any kind of comparison.
MD is a nonprofit school. It is not "OWNED" by anyone.
MD 8th grade teams have been known to compete against HS JV or freshman teams. So I'm guessing they don't want 7th grade teams to compete against other 8th grade teams because it is not worthwhile. Not because they will lose.

They ask everyone to reclass because it's an extra year of tuition for the school, and the kids are bigger on the court/field.

It is a joke academically. It's school motto is actually, "Work hard, play hard, pray hard, but most of all, be a good guy!" Seriously.

My son attends Mater Dei. He did reclassify, but it was probably the best thing we ever did for him in terms of emotional maturity. Academically, it is NO joke. In sixth grade, he has 2 - 3 hours of homework a night—sometime more. Unlike MCPS, they have semester exams. Yes, the son of Edward Bennett Williams is President of the school, but I am not sure why that is relevant. Families who send their boys to Mater Dei often do so because they see the school as a gateway to Prep, GZ or Saint Johns (usually, in that order). I could see my son attending any of the aforementioned high schools, but I could not see him anywhere other than at Mater Dei. He absolutely loves it there.

I'm sure he loves having teammates all 1-2 years older than the opposition. Be a good guy!

MD also refuses to have their 7th graders play 8th graders at other schools when they ask so the teams can compete at the same level.

Pathetic.

It was very sad for the Bullis community because it was their SENIOR NIGHT. Many of the parents got really upset afterwards and I saw a Bullis Dad (standing with his son and family) put up his middle fingers at the Georgetown Prep bus when it went by - won't say which one even though I saw the kid's number. Classy. Plus, their players would celebrate and taunt the Prep team and coaches each time they scored. Very poor sportsmanship did not prepare them well for a loss.
Otherwise, it was a great game for both teams!

Ummm, you're ignoring the anti semitic comments from prep players and fans. Nothing new. Enjoy your win last night because the playoffs will be completely different.

You should identify the parent who gave the middle finger if it really happened.Behavior like that should be called out publicly. It is an awful embarrassment for our community.

First win for Prep against Bullis since 2014, so it's Prep's Super Bowl. Sad how the program has fallen.

The IAC rules state the champion is the tournament winner. Worst IAC season in years, and Prep beat Landon in OT and Bullis by one
LOL.

You must have experience with a small sliver of the population.

They are the biggest problems at GZ and Prep... sure some are good students, but most are just average.
