That song is clearly about Joe and exemplifies why this is all nonsense. Leave all of these people alone.

Taylor is still crying over Joe? Must be tough for Travis to watch her sing/cry over her Exes after almost a year together.

It’s sociopathic not to be sad about a 6 year relationship ending.

Can anyone explain - why did she waste so much time with Joe?

She spent six years with him and he still refused to marry her. She is a mess. She got with Matty and he ghosted her within weeks. He got engaged to his new girlfriend in under a year. Travis is only with her for the fame.

Why do you see it as wasted? They clearly loved each other and I am sure learned a lot about themselves in the relationship.

Because she is now 34 and her options are limited.

These posts are delusional, just like Taylor is. Their relationship was never serious; it was a short fling. It’s embarrassing for Taylor that she wrote songs portraying their fling as some sort of great romance only for him to get engaged to the next girl he dated a few months later.

Wasn’t she the happiest she’d ever been with Matty? That’s basically what she said on stage, in public. I think she left Joe for Matty believing it would be more than a fling. And I can understand how devastating it would be to blow apart your life for someone who leaves you a few weeks later.

Her album states that she was fantasizing about Matty while with Joe. She seemed to fall hard for him. But he didn’t seem to reciprocate her feelings. He ghosted her after a short fling. The relationship was totally one sided.

She should have left that relationship after 2 years max.

NP. You interpreted it that way. Her album did not “state” it. Words have meanings.

I am a big Swiftie - full disclosure.

I could see how Matty was hot 10-15 years ago especially to girls his age back then. Maybe that attraction never left for Taylor but objectively he has not aged well at all. I saw the 1975 last year and he did his drunk 'bit' on stage and while the music was so so good he seemed ridiculous. But again, he was definitely very attractive back when Taylor first fell in love with him.

I think Gabbriette seems perfect for him. Taylor has no edge (even she says this) and since Matty said normal girls are boring I think G fits that bill. Definitely hyper Angelina vibes and they match each other's freak.

In contrast this is why Taylor and Travis work as well. While they are both wildly successful and hard working they also both seem a little immature for their ages with boundless energy and both from very similar backgrounds with the same values. Just more traditional than the couple above.

In summation I think it is all working out as it should. Taylor said in her album notes in TTPD that all of the hurt the album produced is buried and all parties have moved on from this "mutual manic phase". The only thing I really question about that claim is her feelings about Aimee.

Guilty as Sin? is obviously about her fantasizing about Matty while she was with Joe.

This is what’s ridiculous. Obsessing over her songs as if they’re war coded messages trying to determine what they may or may not reveal about her personal life. They reveal whatever she wants them to reveal, and it could all be fiction to make fans salivate over. If you are a teen, this obsession is fine, but if you’re a grown person…

You are so so so very stupid and wrong. Maybe for you. She is billionaire and attractive and incredibly accomplished. Her life does not remotely resemble yours.

Also I have many friends who are non billionaires and average people who are well educated and married after 40. Are you old? Poor?

This thread is so effing weird. I get that Taylor Swift is polarizing and I certainly don't think she's above reproach but wanting someone to be destroyed over a breakup with a drug addict is a wild take.
