What's going on with FCV GA?

What happened at FCV making players and coaches leave? (Besides the fields which has already been posted about.)

Change in leadership within FCV, leaders and coaches leaving mid season, and VRSC.

TLDR version,

FCV was a strong name in the area, had a list of reputable staff for years and even left ECNL to go to DA, helped form GA when the DA collapsed. Staff was still strong after, TSJ purchased the club during that time and would tell FCV that plans were in the works every year to build a home base facility in Loudoun County. Never panned out. VRSC purchases Evergreen, which was FCV's home base essentially, on top of a few county fields. August of 2023 TT leaves (unrelated to the club, family moves), December 2023 CC leaves for VRSC, February 2024 BP leaves for VDA, shortly after everybody else figures out that the rest of the club staff is gone besides DR. ED leaves at end of season for VRSC.

Picture going forward? FCV has not announced any confirmed field space for 24-25, BC is coming in as the GA director, AB is the new DOS and TD, DR is on staff for GA as well as BC but nothing known about anybody else on the girls side. They could be successful or this is the beginning of the end, time will tell.

Lots of teams are going to follow their coaches to VRSC for their new GA program. Lack of field space and coaches all leaving FCV for other clubs is forcing a lot of movement.

Any idea what the older players are planning to do? That’s a tough call for them because of college recruiting. Do you stay at FCV not knowing the situation or do you move to VRSC with most of the FCV coaches (except BP who apparently had a lot to do with college placement)?

I haven't seen a club fall apart so quickly and VRSC is a nightmare politically. Good luck to the families going there, you've been warned. VRSC is a shady group.

I have read no reason on this thread to have my DD try out for FCV?

If their best players g to VDA, and the rest go to Revolution…who is left to try out for FCV? I have to be missing something

Best players is a relative term. You would more accurately describe it as BP's favorites who are not necessarily the best. Most are only following due to USYNT prospects through BP. Don't expect that to be maintained for any amount of time at VDA.

Until the next big soccer earthquake, they may benefit somewhat, but expect many of those kids leaving to be back in Loudoun in a year or two to claim a spot on a GA or Loudoun based ECNL team. There are many false promises being made right now.

If you can’t develop them. Fire the Girls ECNL director and let the new one replace half the players with their favorites. Rinse and repeat when the classes age out.
