What’s going on with the two bills?

Isn't the saying, you ask for everything and you get nothing?

Is Jayapal aware that she is a member of the House and NOT the Senate???!

Nope - the progressives think they control everything when in reality they have nothing.

Bigger question is whether she knows that she has spent months acting foolishly.

Jayapal is just trying to save face when she knows that its all about to collapse. They got greedy and ignored what Manchin was telegraphing for several months now.

Bloomberg reported that Kellogg’s and the union have a tentative agreement.

Ahh, no Bernie on the picket line. Too bad.

I read this the opposite way -- Jaypal and her wing were prevailed upon to vote on the Bipartisan Infrastructure Fund, which they had been holding hostage for BBB. After holding out for a long time, Jaypal and her members finally folded, voted up on BIF on the promise that BBB would also be voted/passed. Now that they don't have a hostage, the other side is weaseling out of the ostensible deal.

They didn't get greedy -- they brought their bill down from $6B to 2.5 B to under $2 B and they still aren't getting a deal because Manchin is balking.

Manchin has consistently done this -- remember the secret letter to Schumer detailing the parameters of a deal? He's basically gotten that deal, but still won't vote. Manchin is trying to hold a position where he vaguely supports BBB but for one or two small things that haven't been worked out yet, because he is a wise man trying to protect the federal budget and fight inflation. When pressed on details he opposes, or lobbied against in his own state, he gets pissed and aggressive, because he knows those things make him look bad.

TBH, he is protecting his own personal financial interests and his misogyny.

That "secret" letter you refer to was only secret because Schumer went on for months saying he didn't know what Manchin wanted when in reality, he knew all along. So, Schumer kept it "secret."
And, if the Democrats "promised" such a deal to the progressives, they were out of line in doing so because they knew where Manchin stood. Don't forget that Manchin has said that he wanted to be sure the deal was paid for. It isn't. Not by a long shot.

Manchin is representing his constituency who are against such a deal. Something other Senators and Congress members could learn from.

Hey maybe the election in 2022 will bring along some leadership that isn’t nursing home material. Or do we have to wait until 2024 for that?

2024. Pelosi already said she isn't stepping down on the House side. No idea what Schumer plans to do.
