I know many of you have been just as strict as ever, and I truly admire you!
For those of you, like me, who may have fallen off the wagon since...Halloween if I’m honest, do you have any official plans for the New Year? Specific eating plans like WW, Keto, etc. Exercise plans like joining a new gym or signing up for a marathon? Let’s hear it and inspire each other! |
Eating in a deficit, cutting out alcohol during the week, getting a trainer to supplement my weight training and cardio. Already eat fairly healthy. |
I'm thinking about rejoining Weight Watchers (online). Its been awhile (years) but I did lose 50 lbs on it a long time ago. Or my health care plan offers a free program that I'm considering. |
Diet: cut out eating my kids snacks and up my veggies. Otherwise I eat healthy enough.
Exercise: to bike 1000+ miles and run 1000+ kilometers. I completed the Map My Run You vs 2017 challenge and it kept me motivated. |
I'm about 100 pounds overweight. I don't know what to do. |
I'm 50 lbs overweight and it is making me crazy (part of it is a medicine I'm on). I started walking in the summer and, if anything, it has made me feel better. Just start slowly. Walk around your neighborhood. When I first started it took me an hour to go two miles. Now I zip around and had to add time. I think my plan is to add in weight watchers, and probably join a gym. I love walking outside, but I can't stand the cold. |
Make small changes. Walk! Explore new neighborhoods. Listen to podcasts. 20, 30, 45, 60 minutes, whatever you can do, whenever you can do it. Drink soda every day? If you can't cut it out completely, try every other day. Make small, incremental, challenging-but-doable changes. As someone who lost 60lbs (slowly, and maintained it), I do not believe in drastic changes to your diet and exercise routine. Some people are really good at the "cold turkey" thing, but most of us give up pretty quickly. Small, longer term changes are better, imho. You've got this, pp. Start small, but consistent. |
Check out The Economist’s Diet. https://www.amazon.com/Economists-Diet-Surprising-Formula-Keeping/dp/1501160702 Shameful plug as DH is coauthor....but can attest that he has kept the weight off for years. It’s a daily struggle and it took time but it’s sustainable. Basically the premise is weigh yourself everyday and let that be your guide. Some people have a tougher time but one has to accept that and commit to eating the right amount. What you eat doesn’t matter as much for weight management. (Though a balanced healthy diet is advised.) |
I already do OrangeTheory 5x a week, and love it. But I need to stop snacking after dinner to get those last 10 lbs off. Not cutting out alcohol! Snacks first! |
My coparent will be out of town for the month of January, so I'll be parenting solo. I decided that since I won't be going out like I usually do, January is a good time to get back to better eating/drinking habits. For me, that means cutting back on my alcohol consumption, cutting back on the sweets and eating more home-cooked meals and less takeout. I wouldn't mind losing a few pounds.
I'm already a daily exerciser, so there's nothing I need to change there. (I run 4x/week, lift 3x/week and try to do yoga at least 2x/week.) Unfortunately having no sitter means I'll have to skip most of my weekly yoga classes, so I may have to do more yoga at home. |
Sounds like a good book of practical advice. I just reserved it at the Montgomery County library, where I am already third on the list, and it doesn't publish until Jan. 2. Sorry your husband won't get a royalty, but I have to slim down my finances as well as myself. |
For two days now I am eating the following plan:
- dairy free, gluten free, only fish I primarily eat vegetables, fruits, beans and eggs. And fish |
Now that my dh is back from deployment I will exercise at lunch a coupl time a week since there are two new gyms opening next to my office. My diet is already decent and since shifting to eat at 6:30 with the toddler to make life easier I’ve lost some weight since I burn off the calories before bed. Key is not to snack at 9pm besides a herbal tea. Also with dh being back the plan is not to resume eating like he does and maintain my portion control and lots of vegetables as opposed to his preference for meat and potatoes/carb sides at every meal |
Hope you like it and tell your friends! |
Cut alcohol intake. That is my biggest issue. I am probably the only person on earth that has gone on vacation in Europe and lost weight because we were only having an occasional glass of wine; we were also walking a lot. Lack of stress helped too. Finding your calorie intake problem is easy; cutting it out and adding in exercise is the real challenge. Good luck to all those out there! |
