Can you imagine going to a ECNL San Diego showcase or national championship and not even being allowed to dress for the game? Bottom half paying for the top half to pay.

It's all expensive.

That's not exclusively an ECNL issue. Isn't it even worse for DA since you get fewer subs/game? I imagine those players are also traveling and paying and not getting playing time.

DA playing minutes are online for all to see and evaluate. Not the case with ECNL.

There is no San Diego ECNL showcase. Kind of hard to take your numbers seriously when you clearly have no idea. Unless you are including parent travel in the costs, you are way over.

I've been out of ecnl for a minute...but yes...total cost is exactly that...what you actually end up spending that year on soccer. 8 to 10 thousand

It's not an all inclusive resort...prepare for 40 dollar hamburgers and 50 dollar drinks once you get there....if you catch my drift.

Why do ppl continually post about the cost of these programs? Both DA and ECNL are expensive, we get it. It is what it is, take it or leave it. If you are merely posting about it because your player no longer qualifies and you are bitter, or if you are seeking to justify your choice one way or the other, please speak to your psychiatrist.

Pss...the club's doesn't care about you or your kid. You're the paying customer yet you act like your the lucky one to be paying out your a$$ for a child's game. Too scared to hold the coach or club accountable in fear of your kid getting benched. The only loyal one in this cycle are the naive parents. Then coaches or club allies (soccer moms who are FB friends with the coach) get on here and call people bitter for exposing the BS.

it has been said before and will be said again.......ecnl is for girls who think high school soccer is important - https://www.denverpost.com/2018/03/16/us-soccer-girls-development-academy-effect-high-school-soccer/

DA is for girls looking for a higher level of play.

Not really a big deal...... Ecnl fans should just accept that and stop being so defensive. Crap, some good people love rec ball and no need to beat up in them. Rec is not elite, and ECNL is not elite anymore, more like CCL1. That is not a put down, just a fact.

It is not really that big of a deal. Just accept it. DD is not doing ECNL, nor DA, even though she easily could.........

High level girls may want to play high school. High level girls may prefer the development approach of an ECNL coach over the DA options in the area. They may prefer neither DA nor ECNL and want to stay on their current team if the development is outstanding. It is area and team specific.

I have a daughter who may try out for DA (as it is our current club) but I certainly wouldn't change to DA and am considering leaving. Honestly it is about the coaching which really doesn't change with the DA label. And some clubs simply have better development than others.

This sounds like a post by a defensive DA parent pretending not to be. None of us know what is going to happen in this unfortunate soccer landscape even if you act like you have it all figured out.

Nothing that you have said contradicts the PP. It is you who seems to want people to still assign some status to your player when the PP was basically saying “do whatever floats your boat”. The PP said the following “it has been said before and will be said again.......ecnl is for girls who think high school soccer is important”. Nothing in that statement says a thing about the quality of the player it only says what the player values and nothing more. And then to say that DA is for high level players who do not value HS again only really addresses the fact that these players decided that they did not value HS soccer more than DA.

I believe both statements to be both accurate and non-judgmental.

I’m guessing this is on the boys side, since none on the girls side have had time/opportunity to do this yet.

At the DA kickoff last fall, a former college coach mentioned if she had recruited a new player from a high level training program (such as the DA) she would expect them to stay in that program so they'd arrive freshman year in good shape and without bad habits. A college coach may want a new recruit to stay in DA through senior year. Just a thought.
