Does she have other books you'd recommend?

All of them. Seriously.

Yes, I've enjoyed all of them.

I just binge watched the series and really liked it. I didn't read the book. I wish I had been a part of this discussion as the series was airing! I have a few responses to points brought up here-

Some people didn't like the opening sequence, with the kids dancing towards the camera and then the moms cat walking toward the camera. To me it said that kids are generally open, natural, themselves, whereas adults are more likely to put on disguises and fake displays.

The affair with the theater guy- I believe that it was added to the show to further muddy the water about whodunnit to whom.

My take on the scene where Ed is singing at Trivia Night- I think he was, at least in part, staring at the theater guy's wife. I think he was suspecting an affair when they got to the event, and when he started singing he saw the wife do a full turn to look at Madeline from across the room. I think that he realized at that moment that Madeline had absolutely had an affair. I did briefly think maybe Ed was actually having an affair with Theater Guy's wife and he was singing to her, and that's why Madeleine freaked out. There was the earlier scene where the wife did the drive-by of their house... Maybe if they add another season we'll find out.

The creepy Ed vibes (looking at Abigail, etc) I think were deliberate to make us wonder what he is capable of. His "sweaty women" comment to Bonnie I believe was meant to highlight the fact that he rarely sees Madeline sweaty, including in the bedroom. Again, if there were another season I bet they would make something more out of that creepiness.

Jane and the ambiguous flashbacks- It had been what, 7 years since the rape? She didn't have a clear recollection of the rapist's face (she only seemed to be sure about what he smelled like), but knew without question that it was Perry when she saw him. I think her doubts were a part of her troubled psyche.

I assumed that Reece was wearing Draper James clothes in the series- it certainly looked like it!

I also just binged on this series - I loved it, and I had read the book last year. Sure it wasn't 100% true to the book, but I think David Kelley did a masterful job of converting the story for screen, and he took creative liberties where necessary or to condense and convey messages/plot points from the book. I also think Nicole K and Reese W NAILED their roles and Nicole K even added more to her character than I got from the book. The actress who played Jane was the only actor I didn't love in her role.

A few specific minor thoughts since I didn't get the pleasure of posting while the series was current :

- I did find the intro sequence creepy, in the mixing of images of the innocent young children and adult sexuality. Loved the song, though!

- I think in the last scene, Zoe Kravitz (who is her mother's twin btw) cups her neck and it is an allusion to her own past abuse, which I agree I thought should have been mentioned bc if one hadnt read the book, you wouldnt have understood that

- I think the community of women DID rally around Bonnie in the show by lying about who pushed Perry - I loved that in the book and the show (even though it was handled differently), and I actually like the show's final scene with the women coming together at the beach both physically and more so emotionally

- when Ed sang to Madeline at the talent show, it was heartbreaking. Team Ed here - I did not find him creepy. Although maybe in part because I remember Ed from the book.

I think they didn't go into detail about Bonnie's past to leave it for next season. Did anyone else get excited to see Reese's IG post??

I did NOT get Creepy vibes from Ed. I don't understand how people have come to that conclusion. They have some close up shots on his face but they do that to every character. Him putting his arm around Abigail is to comfort her not to be creepy, lol!

Was her IG just a teaser? Or is a sequel in the works?

Binge watching the series since HBO is free this weekend, and I'm really struggling with two 50 year olds (Kidman and Dern) playing mothers of 6 year olds.

Reese is far more believable as a mom in this series.

? Kidman is a mother of a 6yr old IRL. And her character is written as older than her DH. I think it makes total sense given the massive wealth and careers of Celeste and Renata as well.

Your 'real struggle' aside, BLL's garnered 16 Emmy noms, including best limited series and acting noms for each of the 4 female leads and Alexander/Perry.

Just also binge watched it. If the child 6, she basically got pregnant at 43. Not totally unbelievable.

I also assumed both of them used assisted reproduction (especially Celeste, given the past miscarriages and the fact that she had twins). Although my mom had me naturally at 43. Although she didn't look like Nicole Kidman at 50.
