| HBO’s been replaying this and I watched it again over the weekend. It’s really well done. I love the settings and music. But I’m really drawn to those scenes with the therapist. Nicole Kidman sure earned her Emmys there. |

Nicole was great, but it was too much "uncanny valley" with her and that Skarsgaard guy with their very non-American accents pretending to be an all-American family. Their interactions always seemed so "off" because they just sounded so weird to me.
Non-American male actors - speaking in an "American" accent does not consist of purely talking in a gruff, monotone voice. Ruth Negga is the only non-US actress who does a 100 percent believable American accent. They should not do a sequel. I am looking forward to the Witherspoon/Anniston news anchor show. Witherespoon is going to be the queen of prestige television. |
Well the both won acting Emmys for their roles. So at least some people felt them in character. |
Their interactions were "off" because he was abusing her and they didn't know how to act around each other. But Nicole and Alex knew how to act that out, like absolute pros. |
Her character in BLL was supposed to annoying. I find dern terribly over rated as an actress over all. I liked her in this and mask. (Her dad is a total creeper and the only reason she has a career.) She and Reese's characters couldn't find a middle ground and kept upping the ante. Found it very realistic for how women crap on each other. So the whole khumbaya moment at the end of the women all supportive each other to protect the shared secret, I found nauseating. You know they're just pulling mean girl crap on other moms not in their clique. |
| It is interesting how Reese and Dern played their typical roles in BLL. Kidman is always swinging for the fences and definitely hit a homerun as Celeste. I thought the entire production was very well done but feel they should leave well enough alone and skip the idea of a second season. I loved the ending scene on the beach. |
What is this? Are they really doing a news show? Please elaborate, thanks! |
You have mental issues. |
Because all of us Americans talk exactly alike. And if their interactions seemed “off” to you, then the director and actors did their Emmy-winning jobs. |
| Setting aside that no one needs this much money, I got to hand it to Reese and Nicole for getting the big bucks from HBO for Season 2 (reportedly $1M/episode). But it’s still annoying what they had to bring to the table: a Best-selling book, multi multi award-winning cast and writer, proven director, etc and still got the big money only after the first season was a huge viewer and critic favorite (season 1 has won nearly every award it was eligible for). On the flip side, I’m pretty sure “True Detectives” was just handed to Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson who got big bucks from the get-go. Just an observation of double standards. |

Meryl Streep comes aboard for Season 2, wow

One thing I wasn’t thinking: “hmm, this show could really use a shot of female star power”. But I guess good for Reese & Nicole to keep their own egos in check and bring on a bigger star. And admittedly, I’m now more interested to see what season 2 brings. |
Streep is playing Perry’s mother, grandma to the twins. So Celeste’s/Nicole Kidman’s mother-in-law. That’s gonna be good. |
| The DVR is still set for any Big Little Lies. But I think Season 2 will be a while yet. |
