Wow! I’m shocked!

This could be the case, but I find it hard to believe that they finished the maps on the same day that they’d upload. If there were errors, they should’ve worked overtime to fix or send clear communication that it wouldn’t be released when they promised. SB members didn’t know that they weren’t being released when they sent correspondence to constituents late morning on Friday.

No updates to the community, no apologies, just inaccurate communications and false promises.

Michelle Reid defines incompetence. We deserve better than this overpaid failure.

What is our best method of recourse? Email our Board member? BRAC member (though it sounds like they were similarly out of the loop)?

So frustrating!

Be kind to our unpaid BRAC volunteers.

I have talked to several in person, and they are 1000x more frustrated than the parents are.

The last maps came out in May it’s October….this is crazy we should have had revised ones much earlier and they will somehow have this voted/finalized in Jan? What have they been doing for 5+ months?

PP, sorry if I was unclear. I place no fault with the BRAC members and have a lot of sympathy for them. I feel the Board is definitely trying to duck responsibility and shift it to the BRAC.

That being said, those who are running this need to be held to account by constituents. Sounds like the Board and Superintendent need to hear from us en masse.

I agree with this. Since we’re obviously not going to be spending time reviewing the new maps this weekend, we can devote that time to emailing the school board and superintendent’s office. I’m going to contact my board member and the at-large members. That way there will be SB members who see the level of frustration across the county.

This is extremely unprofessional. If they can’t meet a hard deadline that affects thousands of families, then they should have sent an email. People get fired for this type of unprofessionalism.

Why are people so bent out of shape about the missed deadline? It’s not like these maps are going to detrimentally impact thousands of FCPS kids, right? It’s not like they repeatedly committed to that timeline and that the community relied on that deadline being met so that the community could prepare for the rushed meetings scheduled to start in a couple of days, right?

Oh, wait.

Unfortunately some BRAC members are useless. We have reached out to our BRAC members several times with 0 response. We gave up on our BRAC members.

Your brac member is a volunteer

Ours have been great.

They showed up at our region meeting a couple weeks ago and tried to answer the questions that fcps couldn't or wouldn't answer, including staying later than the fcps employees to answer questions.

If only there was a way for someone from the county to send some sort of electronic message explaining what was going. Someone should invent that.

Is Reid awake yet?

The fact that there has been no email is damning. It means they really have no idea what’s going on, why it’s not updated, or when we can expect it, or they absolutely would send it.
